Wouldn't 1066 be 6/6/66 which would be 4 sixes =p, i think you meant 1006 which would still be 6/6/06 and therefore you can't actually get a date 6/6/6, but i supposer 6/6/66 would be the closest (could be 1966 etc aswell)

1066/2066 merely fits better with all the strange people who use two-character dates since they then get 30 days of a *66 year for devil worship or to scare the **** out of the poor souls living across the bible belt.
