The game setting option to change from 32bit colour to 16bit colour does not work.

When I select 16bit, apply and save settings. Then log out and back in - the game is still in 332bit colour.

I made this aware to Skyline last night and he said to post here so devs are aware.

So here it is...

I am assuming if i change to 16bit colour (when it is fixed) my fps lag should be reduced?

I have been playing a few servers on a TOSHIBA Z830-10 Ultrabook

SATELLITE Z830-10U

PART NUMBER: PT22LE-00F004EN

  • Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit (pre-installed, Toshiba-HDD recovery)
  • 2nd generation Intel® Core™ i5-2467M processor for Ultrabook™ with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.0
  • Toshiba HD non-reflective High Brightness display with 16 : 9 aspect ratio and LED backlighting
  • 128 GB SSD
  • Steel grey metallic, magnesium chassis, matt black keyboard
  • 6,144 (2,048 onboard + 4,069) MB
  • DDR3 RAM (1,333 MHz)
  • Intel® HD Graphics 3000
  • maximum life : up to 8h00min (Mobile Mark™ 2007)

I know it does not have any dedicated graphics but played 3 other servers and no problems. Currently it struggles on a GH and overheats when I run this server.

I would take a guess and say that whatever fps lag you get, probably wont change with 16bit. The reason being is that the HD3000 graphics which is part of the i5 processor, is actually very respectable in terms of its power. It's significantly faster than the 5 year old nvidia 8400M GS in my laptop, and my laptop doesn't suffer much fps lag. So whatever lag you are experiencing, is probably caused by something else...

Anything you think it maybe so I can look at and change?

well tbh, it depends on exactly what kind of lag you get. I used to get lag on my laptop, turned out to be my hard drive having dodgy firmware

I experience it when lots of things are going at the same time. So SW - killing bosses. When I am leveling hardly anything. But doing SW and bosses on others servers I was completely fine. Here I am not

I noticed this too, this has been the case since the start of the server... I get the 60fps , however even with nothing going onscreen it fluctuates and drops to 45ish every now and again... Indeed heres hoping the 16 bit option sorts the lag issue many are having.

You need to find out whats stealing your resources , and if it is a network speed problem.

Check your task manager's Processes tab, mir2.exe on mine runs around 2-3% at an idle might jump to 5-6% during intense battles.

Next check your memory usage on mine its set aside 285mb for the client itself, and surprisingly MySQL uses 1.2gb so if you have any SQL services installed i would remove them of course if your not using them. Not sure how much ram you have as you only listed its type.

Im not sure how to monitor a non discrete gpu but i use MSI Afterburner to monitor my gpu usage and it floats at about 28-32% with one client running idle ( checked without mir running and it sits at 0% since i use my integrated gpu for windows and services and my nvidea GeForce 660m strictly for gaming and video rendering applications.

The network traffic for mir2 is really light however imo is the weakest link in all mir servers ive ever played when compared to other games such as diablo 3 which is streamed, im not well versed in coding by any means but if you could mimic how diablo 3 and starcraft 2 stream their connections / packets it would reduce a ton of lag.

I actually run D3 in the background simply to keep the data stream open which in turn reduces lag by quite a bit, i use a 3g wireless internet due to my job being in remote locations where no dsl /cable are available. So i would try something such as this as well you can download a free trial of d3 with no commitment to buy all you have to do is have the client open to run the stream.

My System Specs :

Alienware M17x R4, 17" Laptop

Windows 7 64-bit
Intel Core i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz ( Intel HD4000 integrated gpu)
Ram 16 GB
Nvidea GeForce 660M 2GB
256GB SSD ( for windows + games )
1TB HDD Storage 2.5" 7200 RPM
3TB USB External Storage

I wanna setup raid just waiting for the next gen of ssd's to hit the market.

As stated in many other threads, I doubt this is actually an issue with out client and normally (or history has taught us) it hasn't been an issue with the graphics card either...

I play on a number of different spec laptops including the worst being:
- 1.4ghz core duo.
- On board gfx card.

And I have very little issues from a development/test/playing perspective. The common set up I have amongst all of the machines I play on is:
- Medium res (on laptops)
- Windowed (I can't stress enough not to use full screen if you are experiencing lag issues lol)
- Big interface.

As previously suggested, maybe look at your environment.
