You can, but you can't use them both on the same phone line.
I imagine 512kbps broadband would be cheaper than using two modems simultaneously.

56k = phone line. data can go forward and backward, but not at same time.
128k (asdl) = dif wire (dnt kno name) data can go back and forward at same time therefore doubling ur connection speed

based on that lil fact i dnt think its possible to combine 2 56k modems... but hey, cud b wrong

I hate to be a pain in the arse, but could you give me some idea about where you get your information ;)
Maybe if it were possible it might be illegal, but since it isn't we shouldn't worry about it.

You can use them on separate phone lines however using multi-link ppp. You'd need another phone line and probably another account with your ISP.

ADSL also uses your phone line, but utilises a higher frequency than your phone.

ISDN is usually 128kbps (2 * 64kbps), but can go up to 30 * 64kpbs for commercial ISDN. Uses a digital line unlike your normal analog phone line, and you can use the two 64kbps lines to do different things at once, like connect to the internet on one and phone someone on the other.
