Is it possible to have 2 partitions one for windows and 1 for storage. Reason asking is, I tried it and anything I downloaded went onto the Windows Partiton =/. Can I change that?
yes it is possible, i use a 3 partition system as a minimum.
part. c - boot drive for os.
part. d - data/work/back up
part. c - virtual memory
if you need to reinstalll due to unrecoverable crash, you can boot into dos, or use other tools, and shift data for back up onto anoither part. leaving c to be reformatted etc.
drives are not formatted when you buy em, and may not be given a drive letter/id.
i use a 500gig drive for video and audio working, in one partition.
the easiest program to use is imagequest's partition magic, of which norton has took over

bye bye diskimage as they promote ghost. pm also allows resizing without data loss - very handy.
latest version allows boot from cd, original option of 2 floppies is still available.
if you add a 2nd drive and want that to be at the end of your asignments, use the entire disk space to be used in extended space.
after partitioning you MUST format for them to be use.
