Obviously some people took the meaning of scam to rip people off, a scam is also to deceive.
The government allowed the lottery to take place on the previsions that they could decide where half of the money goes.
50% goes to prizes, 12% to the taxman (taxing us yet again on our earnings), 5% to the retailer, 5% to the Lottery operator and 28% to charlities and good causes.
Upto the third quarter in 2006 18.6 billion was spend on lottery tickets in the UK, that is 2.23 billion that wouldn't otherwise of got without the lottery - how are they spending it, well on things like hospitals and schools and policing - who is taking credit for funding this - the government, who in reality is funding this voluntarily - we are, that's the scam.
5.209 billion went to charities and good causes - where are they spending it - according to the
Sunday Times in August 2006 10 labour councils have benefited from grants, 2 conservative and 2 liberal - John Major (Labour) brought in the Lottery and look which councils are mostly benefiting from it - who is getting the credit and who is really paying for it, voluntarily?
It's a scam of deception, the government are deceiving people into believing they are doing good, getting lottery tax while dropping income tax so they can get the pat on the back, funding the arts, hospital charities, new equipment and training for people - all credit to the government - the reality is we are funding it voluntarily. So who should be getting the credit?
With the 14.3 billion pounds in prize money a lot of peoples lives have been affected for the good I agree, and we do have a chance of winning but don't be decived into thinking for every £1 you pay you are being thanked for doing some good because all the credit is going to the government and the only thing they are doing is taxing it, taking credit for everything that looks good because of it and possibly freeing up cash that would normally be spent on services/charities for their own pay rises? (controvertial) :brows:
Well that's what I think and opinions are allowed here
