Activating Windows, XP Home SP2

never had this problem before, im using the same disks as i always do, i entered my product key that i have on the bottom of my laptop same as usual, as its installing windows it pops up asking for it, same as always.

just this time its coming up with "activate Windows" now is doing my head in, microsoft have told me to purchas a new one, but iv got 4 laptops here all with a xp key on the green slip, non of them have worked either. all the same brand of laptop, all came with SP2. the keys on the other laptops have only been installed on there own laptop once, i did a recovery disk but that made my laptop worse, so did a fresh install with the disk i got.

any help is greatly appreciated, as i say iv never had this before, entered the key upon installing Xp Home, and never had this activate windows crap popin up.

you already have windows installed and just needs activating? if you can hang on til thursday as i wont be home until then, i have an activation hack that you just double click and it activates windows, no risk or anything, it works on xp,vista and windows 7. I refuse to pay microsoft loads of money to buy more licenses when infact i have fully paid for the product once and using for personal use.

i did that aswell as its a free number also they said the same. Microsoft seem to lack customer servcie and just want more money out of us tbh its a piss take.

that would be brilliant m8 if you can, yeah its just activatin it needs. will thisaffect the updates as i know some do??

I'm in need of something like that too if possible, I used to have a student XP key which was genuine until micorsoft eventually blocked it so now I can't update my windows

ok this is it, very small download, follow the readme file inside, very easy just doubl click something basically. I used this without fail on service pack 2 all the time, it should also work with service pack 3. If it doesn't work with service pack 3 i have another lurking around somewhere on my computer

sorry for double post but, it has worked (so far) apparently it does somethin once your 30 days is up. but says its worked fine so thankyou so much m8. also i did the update on SP3 so it works fine with that

I had this problem on my other pc I got the registery from a friend and worked then it stopped working I phoned microsoft up an said I'd lost the key but still had the disk the first time I rang the woman said that they was to busy etc but I rang back 2 mins later and got some guy an got it sorted had to put a new product id in then had to ring the free phone number up and get some more numbers I put them in an worked fine upto now (2 days in no problems so far)

i had one for every operating system but lost it, but i do also have a vista one yes, and i'm pretty sure it works, it did for me a few months back anyway. I use windows 7 now though but i will find the vista one if you like.
