Are there plans in place for large scale advertisement for Chronicles?

Obviously nothing major, but enough to get the server user count as high as possible..

usually the the lomcn super servers have max 250-300 players total? 150 on average active quite a lot of the time... Would be nice to log on to a full server for a change and have a range of players...

It's a great idea to get advertising out wherever possible.

Also if possible get it up on those advertisement sites, example gtop100 and xtremetop100.

A lot of games put up there advertisements on those sites to get a lot of players, and involve some kind of reward from voting for the server - it's usually implemented through the games own website, you vote, you get vote points, you spend the vote points on ingame stuff.

I would say you could add voting for cash shop money, but I would prefer that stay ********s. However if you could implement a voting system, you could have it for example a small stat buff for 1hour, costing around 4 vote points.

The more who vote the more it gets recognised and more people try it, hopefully with people enjoying it enough to stay and create a much bigger atmosphere.

Imagine a server with over 1000 players!

Great ideas.
I'd be happy with over 500 active players but hey, dream big right!? 1000 sounds good.

just imagine the atmosphere, economy and general gameplay with that amount of users.

btw don't know if people have tried or not but not much time ago i had a small computer office giving general IT services as web hosting / developing and i used the facebook advertisement pages to advertise my activity and for just 8€ i got a major return in views and also got a few new customers in the zone.

this could be a good starting idea since the advertisement could be pointed directly to the gaming community!

Getting know is not an easy job. I'm trying to build up a hype for my site while its in development and have implemented a few "Marketing" ideas which cost nothing. I'm willing to share some of the ideas here if people want to do it?

So we are thinking about "Marketing" and different avenues we can take to to and increase the player count... I know facebook has attracted some new faces as we have had messages/responses explicitly saying they have never played Mir before (which I think is awesome!).

We have been trying to utilize social media Facebook, Twitter, Youtube etc, which so far as been fantastic, and we would really like to advertise in as many hotspots (I am using this as a term for places with a large user count) as possible, however, the problem we face is we are a private server and many of the great/large gaming communities will refuse to advertise us because of this.

We do have plans to use ********s for facebook booster posts (you can boost your post to a much larger audience etc)... Banners on LOMCN, RaGEZONE etc, and we are open to any suggestions on where people m think would be good to advertise.

To answer your question in short:
Our advertisement campaign will continue throughout the lifespan of the server.

It sounds like you have covered most of the "Marketing" tactics that I was going to mention.

Social media is a must but you need the community to also help with the "Networking". Get players to recommend and perhaps a reward system could be put in place. For example if you look how Facebook's games work. They have small in game rewards if you invite people. Obviously deciding what to reward players with is up to you as you still need to keep some sort of balance.

Also if you look how Private WoW servers get their huge player count with their reward system that might help.

If you're going to look at 'Rewards for referrals' then do it like MOBAs do.

If you do it just for invites I could create fake accounts all damn day lol.

MOBAs do it in stages as the player levels.
Player reaches Lv.10 = 20k Gold for Referrer
Player reaches Lv.20 = 1 Hour buff

Etc etc.

I agree. MOBA's are a good example too of how they get more player base without compromising fairness issues. You could also have special ingame titles. Everyone loves to peacock around showing that they are something special in the Mir Community.

Thanks for response Sam.

Social Media is the future. I'm a member on a few highly populated forums with large gaming communities.
I'll post a link up there once the server is almost live, hopefully some new faces from that.

Word of mouth is a very good tool...

I actually found out about this server from playing arcadia mir server and someone said in guild chat that they were waiting for chronicles server to go live so I took a look.

quite a few I spoke to who were playing that server were waiting for chronicles

I was just messing about on other private servers trying to feed the mir addiction.... only tried a few servers but nothing has lived upto the original experience yet... mostly because I'm not keen on higher rates of exp, and I like item drops to be spread out and rare items kept rare (not just bosses dropping items)

so hopefully this server will be awesome and my friends who said they will give it a go will decide to stop

The problem with word of mouth is that it is limited. Especially if your like me and have no friends :(. Telling people on other servers is one way to do it but your limiting yourself to people who already play Mir. I think what they need to do is open up to those people who don't already play Mir.

reddit is a good place, lots and lots of different people with different interests and with sections specifically for gaming / pc gaming mmos sure you could draw a fair few players from there.
