Is it OK for koriban to be handing out info about what drops where?
No one ever knew for certain until after the files were leaked all those years ago. People would compile lists of what dropped where and some of the info was misleading.
Either publish all the drop files on the website in a way that everyone can see and understand easily or don't give out any information to anyone at all. Not dribs and drabs. Not whoever asks and not to people you know ingame.
This should have been discussed and made clear by the team when the decision to change the dropfiles was taken. Either tell everyone or no one.

The above information was from personal experience of playing the game for 2/3 months solid.
Mid-level spells can and will drop from mid-level bosses, not really sure what else you're expecting.
That said, I can't release any information regarding the newest of drop files changes made by the team, so I wouldn't worry.

Your jumping the gun a little bit terriblen
Sam and myself are the only two people who know or have seen the drop files, nobody else is working on them apart from myself and they are in a protected folder on the server machine that only Sam and the M2Server have read access too.
Yes koriban is a team member but he has no access to the files, his roll on the team is as follows

I have always believed that dropfiles like other aspects of the game should not be common knowledge. The first leaks all those years ago did more damage to the game than the appearance of private servers. Many of those were unimaginative and no major differences.
The best ones had a lot of creative ideas and many changes.
I hoped that the dropfiles for this server were not the same as everywhere else and had some surprises. I hope the new ones have flair and imagination and do not repeat what everyone has experienced so many times already.

I agree with you that players should not know the content of the drop files (this is why the drop folder is protected)
I know you will say the same, there is no problem with players creating a list of what has dropped from a monster and sharing that list with others.
We should all be helping each other to enjoy a game that we all love.
