Lol for a start i never priced a super fast PC, thats a bit of a shed as good pc's go. I suggested the overclocking because the performace you can gain with the new 45m chips is outstanding..and to go to 3.6, you dont need anything special, it will do it straight out the box on stock cooling, and will last you for a good few years, if you buy cheap products.. you will notice the difference trust me, ive built many a pc in my day, and alone a motherboard can determine a LOT.. cheap ram might run at the same speed, but performance wise doesnt compare. You want to play WOW smooth.. you need a semi decent PC all im saying.

I dont pick expensive.. those components i picked are quality/value.. they are not in the expensive range by miles.

Also.. have you even tryed to play Crysis on ultra high @ 2560x1600?

Ive tryed on a setup with this

E8600 overclocked to 4.5GHZ
Asus Rampage Extremem 11
8GB Corsair Dominator PC2 8500C5 Twinx 4x2GB
BFG GTX 260 OCX MAXCore 896Mb version
150GB WD VelociRaptor

And it still doesnt play smooth, a 2 grand PC that STILL cant play Crysis smooth.. so what you think a 400 quid pc is gonna do? nothing.

1920x1440.. its kinda decent.. still a tad jittery here n there tho.

That's not a 2grand PC, if it is you've been had.

Concidering Crysis benefits from more cores, you'd be better having a quad core less overclocked.

2560 x 1600? Who actualy uses that other than the people who have the money to burn so then they can spend out on the best quality parts and fastest at the time.

Concidering i can play Crysis at 1920 x 1200 pretty decent on a Q9550 and 9800GT shows that Crysis isn't all that.

Besides, who mentioned Skyline would be playing Crysis?

All we're saying is, why go for better parts than he wants when cheaper options can be just as good at playing WOW?

He probably doesn't even know where to start at Overclocking, so spending money on parts which are excelent at overclocking would surely go to waste?

You think he would have managed 4.5 GHZ, stable at very low temps without it? lol its a whole 1.2 GHZ overclock.. it produces a lot of heat when you have to up voltages to the CPU/MB/RAM/GFX card a LOT..

Personally i would NEVER spend that amount of money on a Pc myself, my max is 500.. on any new setup. But its not my money or my choice, if thats what he wanted.. fair play to him.

First of all the components you pick ARE expensive, you dont seem to understand hes not a hardcore gamer, he won't be playing Crysis, Far Cry 2, or GTA IV on his PC, he will be playing WoW. You also fail to use the words quality and value correctly, your mixing them up. That PC also does not cost 2 grand. You do NOT need a Rampage to get 4GHz+ on a E8600. 8GB RAM will not yield better performance in Crysis than 4GB. And you CERTAINLY do not need that sort of spec to play WoW.

And just to give you an idea of what sort of PC will run Crysis MUCH better than your ridiculous spec, here you go:

Q6600 @ 3.2Ghz
GA-P35-DS3L
4GB 1066 RAM
HD 4870 X2

Much cheaper, and will slash your spec at pretty much any game.

Edit: Whats with these people thinking they need 1kW+ PSU's? A TX 650W/750W would power that system EASILY.

The fact is, it was his choice? and will he need to upgrade in the next few years? Hmm no.. he builds for the future.. he doesnt want to waste money on a quad atm, as they are pretty much pointless, he's waiting on a better i7 model to come out, then upgrading as. He has a deal with the shop he buys from as its his uncles business as a part xchange.. he will be getting an i7 model/new mobo and a second GTX 260 and as you will know, the i7's perfomance with dual cards over single cards.

I personally wouldnt touch a GTX 260, i told him to go for a 4870x2.. he had his mind set tho..

Ive already picked my new setup, and as i said 500 per system.. its still in my budget.

I know you will have a comment about the price of the board.. but if you look at reviews on it, im buying this simply for the DDR3+Overclocking potential of the board, yes the is the P5QC Combo option, but i have belive you buy some to do a certain job, and simply dont trust a board that supports both DDR2 and DDR3.. im skipping DDR2 and its.. pretty **** tbh, why not jump to the best. I havent upgraded my system in 3 years or so ( except GFX Card ).. so i decided to treat myself to something nice, and as i will be using this PC also for Mir.. it will rip.. especially when i get it past 4.2 GHZ OC. But its not all its used for.. wouldnt waste that money on a pc for Mir lmfao, and i feel no need to upgrade GFX till the price on the 4870x2's comes down a bit.. would never spend that on a GFX card. My g/f's bro has one.. and yes the are top notch cards.. but £350+ for a GFX card is just insane.

DDR3 is useless, its just higher clocked DRR2. Im saying 200MHz because thats all you get from a board that costs 80 quid and a board that costs 200 quid. You said quad cores were pointless, but your wrong. And when i say DDR3 is useless, im not talking about Triple Channel.

My PC atm plays WoW just fine, and thats only a AMDx2 3600 with 4gb of DDR2 RAM
So i am willing to pay a few hundered quid more, to upgrade it slightly, so I'm pretty sure I will get a decent spec PC, that WILL run WoW smoothly.

I dont play this Crysis thing, I dont play GTA4, or Far Cry etc, thats what my Xbox is for.

Be nice if you could stick to my budget that I have said, and not start throwing random parts at me that go £200+ over my budget.

Right i will start by asking what the reason your looking to change to a Intel chip?

Looking at what you have atm, you have your ram.. you got a mobo.. and a GFX card that your looking to upgrade.

If you are looking to go to intel i would go with RedDragons advice, without having the jump to the E7200.. intel wise the E5200 is the best bang for buck dual core atm.

Just to give you an alt option to think about.. staying with AMD and getting this.

Performs on par the the E5200.. the both win and loose in gaming tests so they are pretty even par from reviews ive read.. and then going straight for the GFX upgrade just now with a HD4850.. ( not sure what you were looking for when you are going to update)... for your £200 it seems the best option / perfomance as WOW would run smooth without a flinch on a HD4850 / X2 6000+ and you already have 4GB ram so there is just another option to think about, but if your definatly wanting to move to Intel get the E5200.

Good advice.

I recently used the 6000+ Chip and thought it was great, moved onto Intel myself now, but AMD are great value for money and do compete with Intel on Price.

yeah, i'd stick with your Mobo, get a 6000+ X2 and a good Graphics card like the one suggested by Warlock, thats a good card.

Just seem to have had a few problems with this PC, so thought I'd start fresh and go with Intel.
