Intel Developer Forum Spring 2005:
From Multi-Cores To Domination

On the other hand, after two days of IDF we felt like it did not make much of a difference whether some of the announced things were on track or slightly behind. AMD currently provides the fastest PC processor, but how important is this for the average user? Is it really about performance any more?

We say it is not. Intel is not going to sell products based on sheer speed alone, but rather because of what these technologies directly enable us to do. It's simply fascinating to consider what future systems might be capable of. Eventually, the new features Intel has shown us could mean that Intel powered solutions will dominate, whether or not competitors have faster chips.

Fact:

THG reported P4 EE faster than orginal FX-51.

Fact:

There results were proven false.

Fact:

THG said Intel is king because of speed.
THG now says speed doesn't matter, when they can no longer hide AMD's performance.

this is one of my favorites :)

http://www20.tomshardware.com/column/20040218/index.html

There is nothing finer than raising the hackles of delusional AMD lovers.

They are the freaks of low-cost computing, the poor, downtrodden users of products that never seem to be able to match PR numbers to actual performance, now almost beaten into marginality for all time.

here are many an awful lot of slackers and socialists who seem to back AMD despite any of its capitalist shortcomings.

But, it is not all bad news for AMD. If the company reverts to its usual act of self-pity at having to directly compete with Intel, it will get beaten up easily. If the company decides to do the whole bang for buck argument and go against Intel on the basis of its lower cost chips then, it will just be back to where it was at the tail end of 2002. Not good.

The problem is that every time Intel comes around to playing AMD at its own game, it normally ends up owning the final period, and scores at will.

HAHAHA OMG HAHAHAH ps can I say owned now? (concerning TGH ;) )

Speaking of games... I believe a few days later AMD64 owned the gaming world

After practially being lynch mobbed, they posted this:

Intel's 64 bit Lye (Omid needs to apologize to AMD users)

So again, as in years past, we have a situation in which AMD jumps ahead, before Intel pounces and claims ownership of a market, as it is almost is surely ready to do now for 64 bit desktop, as well as for, 64 bit server applications.

Wow, after it being undeniable, they finally say their sorry and that AMD is the speed king!

But wait, throw in some bias!
before Intel pounces and claims ownership of a market

lol, crazy false predictions ;)

The Matrix!!
Never really liked Toms Hardware for info and stuff tbh!!

As for speed, cant remember were now, but i saw a benchmark test done with several processers, including a 3200+ A64 and a 3.4Ghz P4 Extreme Edition and several other Intel and AMD processors!!!

Lets go to say that out of the 11 benchmark tests, the A64 owned the P4 Extreme Edition in 8 of them, whilst running over a Ghz slower in stated speed (as you know AMD speed rate rather than clock it at that speed), with 512k less cache and beleive it or not, it was only the socket 754 which without racking my brain are based on older A64 cores (correct me if im wrong like)!!

The only tests Intel won were rendering of movie files such as AVI and Uncompressed DV Footage, which it was considerably faster than AMD!!! But if this is the only thing Intel can cane a A64 at, then they are gonna struggle when no home user needs DV Rendering abilities do they?

So, in my opinion and Urbans obvious factual representation, Intel suck atm!!!

Can we add onto this debate Apple G5 Dual 2.5 Gigs as a comparrison, I am sure the Mac Owners would argue that there hardware beats both AMD and Intel...

I wasnt aware that apple was a PC?? Not like you can build an apple from scratch either is it really!!! The topic was CPU performance & consumption and was Intel vs AMD was it not? How therefore can you start adding apples into the debate!?

Wether a G5 can beat AMD and Intel is irrelavent here, which makes it a completely off topic post!!!

I always promote performance, especially in a computer forum.

And leave your childish comments to yourself, they have no place here.

I came here looking for some info, instead all I found was a moderator abusing his position by being condesending to a majority of forum users.
Everyone has a right to their point of view and being a moderator does not give you the right to talk down to everyone that you may not agree with.

I usually point alot of people in the direction of these forums. I have done so for as long as I have been a member and even before I signed up I reffered people here. All I see now is more than several post where you seem to enjoy 'hijacking' threads, stomping on peoples opinions and making them look small. (here's an example http://www.lomcn.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=29503 of you taking over a goodbye post and bringing up a topic that is supposed to be in this section.) I thought you'd 'grow out' of it, thinking that 'mod power' had gone to your head. However it seems its in your nature.I shall no longer be referring people here. As I definetly wouldnt want them to recieve the 'welcome' you give.

Nothing left to resort to? :smoking:

I was offering an alternative - nothing at all to do with the other thread....
Obviously you carry on trying to mock me - good on yer..

Whether a G5 can beat AMD and Intel is irrelevant here, which makes it a completely off topic post!!!

I agree, I must have read the thread wrong - I was offering in the mix (called a Discussion by the way) alternative types of computers - oh and
PC = Personal Computer so yes an Apple is also referred to as a PC. Never mind though, any post i made back then was always referred to the argument on that AMD thread..

As for the last post there - by Inzane, I will not comment on what you said but rather the fact Urban allowed the original Thread to carry on when he should have closed it the second it got out of hand.. I also agree that I was out of Order in flaming Urban the way I did, but what has come to pass - has passed. I asked for my account to be deleted and they will not do it - so i have went another route which just about achieves the same effect anyhow..
