Do any of you use linux? What distro do you use? Which desktop environment do you like?
I'm using Lubuntu, Ubuntu + LXDE on my old Pentium 4 and runs pretty smooth. It's up to date with constant updates. My niece uses it and she neved had a problem with it.
On a good PC I actually prefer KDE. It doesn't need more than 350MB of RAM to run but with all the effects I'd recommend a bit more, I wouldn't use it with less than 1GB RAM. You can customize your desktop easily with a few clicks, i've never seen a desktop environment with as many options as KDE.

Some distros like Mandriva or Suse have a slightly modified version of KDE with visual improvements and a few other stuff.
I'm fan of Ubuntu/Mint. I love their software center, it's something like an app shop where you can download any program for free. I also like Debian and Arch Linux.
