the aol sh!tty browser was the thing that made me hate them, but i found out they have a dialler app u can have run at startup, just sits in the taskbar, and connects immediately.

I had the dial-up for 8 months... Only actually got online for 6 weeks during that time... Says a lot.

I got NTL Cable when it first come out in the UK and the problems were un-beleivable, constant dis-connects, bb router problems TFTP server outages and DHCP problems... Basically, NTL 'DID NOT' comprehend the importance of BB as opposed to dial up, to hardcore users or online gamers in search of being the LPB in their gaming clan! I personally ended up with 6 months of free rental in the first 12 months of service before they got it right (if you can call it that) and installed dozens upon dozens of gigabit routers into their infastructure!!!
Im now on BT for ADSL, and tbh i find the speeds and such much better, im on a 2MB line and my mate who live directly over the road from me is on 2MB from NTL, and weve conducted numerous similtanious tests downloading from the same site and were i get almost 280k each and everytime he rarely gets above 200k!! We both have similar spec PC!
As for bandwidth, yes being capped is super ghey, but why do you think this is? Because they wanna be complete w**kers, no! Its because they have realised over time that people just wh0re and wh0re and wh0re stuff on Broadband and bandwidth costs money obviously...! There are still a lot of companys that offer uncapped access, but i can say that to offer that in this day and age means quality may have been reduced in other areas, and besides this i imagine once these companys start to feel the cost of leech wh0res who download gigs up gigs of stuff every day that it wont be long before they will introduce the same cap!!! For there troubles, NTL and BT comprise of over half of the uks 2 million (last time i checked) Broadband users!!
While im on the subject of broadband, all of us think we are getting a snip for £25 for a 2MB line, take a look at whats being rolled out at the other side of the globe!
Anyway, i used AOL once, in 1997... on a 33kbps connection and it sucked big time!!! Went on to NTL dial up, then cable now BT ADSL!!
I cant say wether they are the worst provider as ive not used them all so i would be wrong in saying so, but i can say they aint the best put it that way!!!

AOL has never failed me, it can p!ss me off in the morning, cos for some reason my connection idles, only between like 7:30 - 8am, but other than that im happy with em.
you can call Aol all sorts of names but thx to there shoddy workers i aint had a price increase for 4 and a half years im still payin £17 and i got a 2MB line :dude:
