Area only Accessible by Server Hosts

After receiving the mail off Andy earlier Re: forum spammer (ty Andy) I was thinking, would it be possible to have an area only accessible by server hosts (not all the numerous GM's involved with each server) so that they can easily share this information.

Also for any known cheaters that you have to ban (I have a couple now) so that the other server owners will know who to keep an eye out for. Would need strict no flame policy, so that if someone didn't agree a certain person was cheating they just have to ignore it.

Anyway, just a thought...

have to say a closed area for servers that have been up in access of 4 months would proberly be a good idea, that way as mentioned a global ban list could be formulated between us all.

In regards to this global ban list talk - Any IP can be changed, char names and of course emails. Couple examples for you:

Bad user
Mr Cheator is caught on Server A, Host publishes his details on this secret section and in turn everyone adds this IP to there Ban list. Problem is Mr Cheator is not stupid and changes his IP at will, which now means he can happily create another char, cheat away and nothing is stopped. Meanwhile someone else by sheer change who also happens to play Mir gets the same IP (from the same ISP or whatever) and he is now banned and has no idea why.

Mistaken Identify
A Host suspects a person is cheating and posts as such, in reality this person might not be cheating and as there is no form of Policing, this person is now banned from all the servers listed and in turn has to go onto one of these other "New" Servers or just quit.

I think the best way forward is for all the servers hosts who know each other to have a MSN Group and saves making a section on the forum which just wont get used. What I will say though is if there is enough interest, maybe there can be a section for known "Good" Users to share info, but then again this I can also see failing - why would Server Host A help Server Host B and so forth>>

Bad User...

The fault in that argument is that people really can be stupid.. change IP, change char name, but you cannot change your friends, and the way you chat, and the way you act.. Someone else getting IP banned due to using someone elses banned IP is Highly unlikely since nobody plays Mir anymore .

Mistaken Identity

Tough, reason I say this is..

i.e. If I say idaBigA was cheating on my server, then I would also add, that I not only observed them walking while para'd/auto running/whatever but I have chat logs of them asking their mates if they have turned the cheats on for the coming war that day. It is then up to each server owner to interpret the information that has been supplied, and for each one to do what they want with that information. I am not saying that as soon as people get some info they IP ban everyone, what I suggest is that the other server owners can then keep a closer eye on those certain individuals. Also, with no flames allowed, info is posted and nobody would be impelled to do anything with it, if they didn't want, but they can't go around denying it.

I like Andy's idea of only server owners (of current live servers) of over 4 months should be allowed to have access, that way you haven't got loads of kids who have just got a server going last week spamming crap that all the people who PK'd them on X server cheated.

Tbh, I don't mind opening a forum on Sting just for access to something like this, I have plenty of free web space.... if anyone is interested.
