Areas Within Maps

Im making a huge map atm and im trying to get areas of the map to show that there different as u move arround the map .
For example on the Bichon wall map ....its 1 big map but when ur in Ginko it says you are .....i cant find ne previous posts sorry =/ and ive tried working it out from the map info file..

Also can i include separate zones in 1 map for example allow mining in just 1 area not nessarsarily the whole map help plz guys =D

i dont have a clue abotu map but u deffinatly sure you can, the mines u dont click on n e hwere nd u mine :P so yeh u can =)

No you can't, if the map is MINE, then you can mine anywhere where you cant walk, and no, you cant have little araes with different names within big maps...

these are all possible...with a little backwards thinking.


say for example you take a 10x10 square room.

copy the map and make it so say the top right 2x2 has all joining spots to the other map.

when you move up youll enter these 2x2 of the other map but it will still appear your in the original map, but this new zone can be configured with new names and minable zones.

mm sounds confusing give me 10 mins ill do a sketch :P

i know what your saying, and it works a treat as its what i use when i make large maps. exactly how big is this map your making at the moment?

The map im makining is 800 * 800 same size as monchon ......im doing it becos im tired of servers where u tele everywhere ...it think that private servers lack "location association" I luved the 1st time i played and explored the mir maps and i want to try and bring this back by making a map with loads interest .......got try now to get my head round wot i think newblood means ......wish id asked a week ago b4 i started >.< tyvm guys for the help

Just thought of something ......if i do wot Newblood sez and therefore 1 bigmap is actually 2 maps ! ......how can this b the way that Bichon map was constructed ? becos the coordinates would be very different and the tele rings wouldnt work there as they do atm .....for example if i tele from centre of bichon wall to Ginko village ...the location at the bottom of the screen sez im in Bichon wall when i am and when im in ginko ...ne way hope u know wot im getting at =/

lol i feel for you, im making a 800x800 map and attribute setting is a task words such as "!@#$%!!!!" were made for.

lol sorry i just cant think of an easy way to put it =/ so it does sound quite confusing. as simple as i can put it

2 identicle maps
1 called bichon
1 called ginko
when u go near ginko in bichon u pass thru a door to the other map
called ginko

looks like same cont but new name and this can be sep mining zone etc.



that help lol =/?

Ginko and BW are on the same map, I think it's hardcoded into the exe's. Try looking at mapinfo for BW and Ginko and see if you can work it out from them.

Ahah! But say if you RT, you go to the BW castle thats in the map named Ginko which ****s everything up, also then you cant see if mobs / people are outsite ginko, because when you walk through it you go to another map...

Therefore the cords going

Will have to teleport you to the correct side of the map.

isn't it possible to make the entire map unwalkable using the mass attribute thing?.. well couldn't u just use the "remove" "attribute" function to make only being able to tele inside gingko cuz your in a new area..

it would take some adjusting but would achieve more roleplaying experience if you didn't have a bunch of servers doing it all "crap" like..

Thx to NewBlood for all the help ......i understand exactly wot u r saying now and it would work, but with a lot of work with limited success an possibly some bugs >.<

After wot every 1 has said i think the most sensible way i couldve acheived wot im trying to do would have been, to base my new map on the original Bichon wall map using the same areas of map as they have, but then getting rid of the original from my server files and then renaming the areas to suite my requirements ...to take it further i couldve then located same sections of the map in which i could mine using ur idea but it would have to b small areas also areas that r mob free becos there is the added prob of mobs following u and dissappearing as u enter the new areas . Ne way thx guys

and if ne 1 ever works out in future, how it was originally done plz post . becos it would b a valuable addition to ever1s understanding of the game

Could you just make areas non walkable on both maps therefore teh cords would be the same but you could not rt to them areas.
