What am i doing wrong lol, Im using ultraedit-32 on leocrasher's frOzen m2server.exe and every single hex I use it gives me some odd error about something being actively refused with a pile of numbers and something to do with API o__0

hmm u sure ur only overwriting hex and not inserting it or deleting it? also take a pic of the error, i think ur probably corrupting the exe

This is what I did, that 1 replace is the ONLY change I made to the exe, before making the change it works fine, after the change it gives this error

Ive searched for exe's that are already hex's to lvl 255 without any luck, does anyone have one handy or can do it quickly? o_0


edit: I have 2 ppl lvl 39 on my server already and they cant lvl any more, getting kinda boring lol gonna end up losing ppl :S

try deadson's m2server it includes an text file read it first

It sounds like your already running the m2server (not saying you are but thats what the error sounds like).

ty dragonfire I downloaded that one, and guess what, same error >_<
closed everything down and started again using deadsons one and still get the same error

right Ive rebooted to make 200% certain it wasnt still doing anything in the background and it still gives me the same error, deadson's still gives me the same error and I just got sent another one from someone else that definately works and THAT gives me the same error lol

I must be doing something wrong, Ive been using alphafrozen server files would this make a difference? Do I need to change anything else? o_0

but did you hex also deadsons and ur friends m2server? because i know deadsons m2server surely works. i must be something wrong in the other server components. if u still have alpha server files u should do a little checkup. i suggest to stop the server. unzip the server files not over ur server. then from your server copy the id.db id.db.idx from the ...\mud2\Logsrv\IdDB also copy the mir.db, hum.db and mir.db.idx from the ...mud2\DBSrv200\FDB folder into the just unzipped alpha frozen server files. then delete in the just unzipped alfha files the envir and notice folder and paste ur current envir and notice folder and overwrite the original m2server with the one u are using and test the server again. also remember to copy any file u consider important before deleting it, such as logs, conlogs etc.

But I have tried it on a completely "clean" (ie, unchanged at all by me) version of alphafrozen files, just changed over the m2server.exe for one of the other ones (both the other m2server.exe's Ive been trying work fine and this has been verified by others who have used them) and it is still giving me this error

From the wording of the error Im presuming its something to do with my connection not allowing something, but if thats the case how come it works with the normal alphafrozen version of the exe

well we both need help here now. i tried to help Sparkeh out but what is happening to him is very very strange.
when he uses the Alphafrozen server files, they work correctly. as soon as the m2server has an hex change the Window Xp give an error, which is this:

"Windows socket error: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it (10061), on API 'connect'"

im sure its the Win Xp which causes it because he tested all files which work on any pc but not on his, it seems that xp doesnt allow the connection for some reason which i dont understand. Please can also others help here??

Try searching for the hex without spaces.

eg. 807834077628

Insted of 80 78 34 07 76 28

erm o_0 that doesnt really relate to the question lol, I am quite capable of doing the hex (trying not to sound patronistic here lol) that is not the problem here. According to a number of results I found on google relating to this error it seems the problem is that windows xp is refusing the connection across ports 7111 and 7115, what confuses me is that m2server doesnt actually use these ports, I believe it uses port 7200. Further usage of google has suggested this is probably due to a lack of something known as CCServer, but no amount of google-searching has shed any light on what this is, what it actually does and where I can get it.

Anyone here know whats going on? Any help at all would be very much appreciated >_<

update: Ive done a bit of research into CCServer and its definately not something I should need, if I used it all my users would need to install it etc etc so thats a load of pish, Ive also tried changing to other ports to connect my server through but its making no difference whatever I try
