It’s with great pleasure today I get to finally announce the Open BETA for the Artificial Mir II Project, we consider Phoenix 2.0. With our ambitions for a full release in the following month(s), in a timeframe determined by an ongoing review of our public tests. I would hope over the last few years we’ve proven our culture and some merit in openness, reliability and persistence to see this through to a release worthy milestone. Anyone who played our previous open development server will have hopefully come to appreciate our good intentions. This is where things get really exciting for us.

I feel we have taken a different direction and approach to many before us, right from the outset. As a team, we are in essence primarily compelled by our interest to bring back all of the official game elements. We are remastering and including all of the quintessential features from top to bottom, in the best way we can

We want to give you a reason (again) to put in the hours, and the effort, and be reward with authentic content. We’ve already tackled what we feel is the hardest part: laying the foundations by establishing a genuine release worthy baseline file set. Together the aspects of our project have faithfully restored significant portions of lost or forgotten content and added additional touches of finesse throughout the game for players to discover and enjoy.

The Artificial project was never about being the best server or being the server with the highest user account, it was never about making the most amount of revenue or undermining anyone else’s efforts or hard work, or custom files from the rest of the private server community. We’re here to rebuild the game as faithfully as possible, and share that experience with everyone who misses, or has missed out, on the thrill of the original game - despite a perpetual absence of the Official game within Europe (in the English language).

We’ve aspired to bring you everything back in some form; from GameNetwork all the way up to the late GamePot USA content patches, and all the way down to the finest details, assembled all in one package with unprecedented accuracy. Some of these features have not been seen together for over a decade or more, and some are being combined for the first time ever.

Ultimately together we have assembled an amazing team, and together we have been tackling the task from all angles, leaving no areas untouched: in the process building our own bespoke .net core codebase, and most complete English official replica database ever created.

We’re elated to finally open our doors to the world and reveal the accumulation of our team’s endeavours over the last 24 months. We must stress these are bespoke and highly experimental files. Which is why they’re being tested rigorously before we full release, some aspects of the game may not function as expected, be missing, or be without issues – however given these files are our own codebase, we’re confident in our ability to rapidly fix and deploy content and patches.

We have an exciting development roadmap and hope you relish the unique opportunity to experience what remastered 2001’s iconic WEMADE Legend of Mir II, hosted by GameNetwork could have been if it had lived on to receive more recent content patches from WEMADE, but with the preservation of their exclusive stuff too. In addition, we’re making the unusual steps, which we’re certain players will appreciate: which is to indefinitely remove what we consider high impact pay to win elements from the official game shop, slashed prices, and will instead take our own path in this area focused on cosmetics, minor perks and some enhanced progression.

We’re honoured to be including a vast amount of official specification content on launch, complete right up to a 2012 content milestone with even more included legacy depth and influence, and will only continue to grow as time passes. We are determined to bring back long-term development, progression and satisfaction once, and for all, for everyone. We aim to persist far longer and more sustainably than both GameNetwork and GamePot USA. An enormous amount of credit goes to both Chriz and Logham for making this all possible. I personally can’t thank them enough, and we cannot wait to continue to bring you even more! So, without further adieu… We present the Open BETA test phase of our revered open Artificial Mir II world powered exclusively by Phoenix 2.0 files and Artificial Mir II Team.

Any idea when you guys are looking to go for a live release? I really don't want to burn myself out on beta.

Very curious how the server will fare beyond beta, long term. This is what I always wanted and hope it will find a steady long term player base. I will have to see it to believe it, I mean the various features that are not essential to utilitarian race to 40+ and that no server beyond the official yet provided, except maybe a snippet of it here and there (I think there was a server with magic cave). Typical server is stripped down bare bones, reduced to teleporting from SZ to caves, with non-functional border crossing, building doors or even missing outdoor province mobs.

The long development with the team sticking with it and bringing it to a finished shape, is in itself a solid guarantee of the staying power of server when it comes online after beta. The secure feeling of the staying power of the official servers was their greatest value.
