Hey all,
There are going to be a number of measures taken over the following weeks/months in an attempt to deter and prevent bots...
Today's reboot is going to introduce our first line of defense, deter new bogus accounts... From observations we are able to highlight a large number of bots (mainly from behavioral differences between a bot and a person) and we can ban these accounts, which is all well and good... However, due to the ease of account creation we could ban 5 and instantly 5 new accounts are created...
So, our first line of defense is to introduce a captcha for account creation as well as email validation to ensure that the person creating the account is human and they are using a valid email address to create the account.
This will not effect current accounts, these have already been automatically verified, however, new accounts will have to register, enter a captcha and validate their account via email, before being able to log in.
Unfortunately this will not stop bots, it will however reduce the amount that are currently in game (especially those who have multiple clients open).
As always we are open to suggestions and opinions on the subject.
