hi,
basically, i've played mir a while now on all different servers, and about 2 years ago when i had a different account on this forum i started trying to make my own server, even if it was only for my own use, and the truth is i'm probably about 20% sure of what i have to do.

I realise alot of topics have been started by many people asking for answers to questions that have been answered many times before, and i hope i'm not just adding to it.
But i would appriciate it if maybe somebody could tell me where i can get a something like a readme file, or a similar webpage that will tell me pretty much all i need to know about gettin a server working, including things like what sortware i'd need and the setup information i'd have to input and where.
my knowledge at running a server is amateur at best,
but this is simply a case of not learning or being informed, or rather lack of experience, which is what i'm trying to gain.
i have read quite a few of the topics posted for people that keep making help threads but all i've found is the software download links and server files etc and "map editor here" this, and "DB commander" that, but to give you an example i have the map editor i open it no tiles, my first instict is maybe i can change some path directory so that the map editor actually opens the file the tiles are in, but i don't even know if i have the files that contain the right data to display the tiles, surley a 15mb download cannot contain all the files needed.. can it?
before i go on too long i'll end it there,
any help at all would be appriciated, hopefully a readme file that goes through it or maybe if anyone has the time to talk to me they could leave there msn.

thnx

Welcome back to LOMCN!

I've kind of stopped making my server, and I'm still pretty nub at it, but I could help teach ya anything you will need to get started if you add me on MSN...

PS: It's good to see people who actually read the stuff BH, Milo, Leo and many other people have typed up before pleading for help.

Edit*
i believe i need the client and i missed it like a fool,:ums:
thnx for help ppl

i have followed the guide on runnin 1.9 server by TOXICK

i've done everything as he says and i don't seem to be having any problems, i believe it's all running in the order he said, but now my last obstical...
how do i get onto the game after i've run M2Server.. lol maybe a silly question but atm i'm clueless, how do i get the login screen up as the game now that (i think) the gates etc are all ready

thanks alot for the speedy responces,

Edit*
The Situation.
The Server Files i've set up were in a 15MB Download, if i expected to play someone elses server, eg Project69 i'd be looking for the client, which owing to it now being 1.9 i'd expect it to be about 650MB, but how does Scorpion (the guy running Project69) get onto Project69, through the client that he puts up for download?
which is basically 1.9 with a few alterations with the ini files and a few maps, did he just get the euro mir Client and add his inis and map files etc untill they became the Project69 Client?
i understand that you need the server files to control the server, but i think what's confused me is that the IP in the ini files if i were to change them would be 127.0.0.1
and that's the local IP no?
and if i were to (just for example) release it as a client nobody could connect to it,
as it'd be their local IP,unless they has one of them dodgy ones lol (i think i'm right)
what will it take to get these server files to make a login screen appear lol, if i need some.. you know.. client files which ones should i download. and from where please,

i will be searching for more information whereever i can find it probably while YOU (yes you) are reading this, i'm impatient at learning, about this anyway,

PS Slanesh i've added you to MSN, hopefully i can feed off whatever knowledge you have:agree:

Depends what client you are using, there are 2 clients around that people use, one is the heavily modded 1.4 client, the other is the ledu client. If you are using the ledu client, i have made a guide for setting it up, it's step by step so you don't need any knowledge to set it up. To find it, search for "ledu guide".

1)

Will the full 1.9 client (476MB) work with the 1.9 emu server files?
the ready to go foundation ones that have all been changed according the the 1.9emu server setup guide.

2)

This is the bottom of !setup in mir200
after i followed the guide,

[Reg]
Key=testfsdmir2
IP=127.0.0.1
ServerAddr=*the ip i got from 3in1*
ServerPort=60320

the foundation file's readme said to change both, IP, AND ServerAddr to the IP in 3in1.
I'm wondering if one is wrong, and if so which one?

3)

I basically copied and pasted everything written in the guide into the right files,
added the IP where needed and i even corrected a few errors in the guide that i'd copied, for example,

GuildDir=C:\Mirsrv\mirserver\Mir200\GuildBase\Guil ds\ <---There lol
GuildFile=C:\Mirsrv\mirserver\Mir200\GuildBase\Gui ldlist.txt <---and There

this is from !setup again
if those aren't typos somebody tell me lol.

I'm pretty much just saying that i've been through the files, scanning them, (my eyes hurt) looking for anything that looks wrong and
correcting it.
I actually have only tried to get onto it using the euro mir client after changing the ini and setup files to the ones i got from the guide.
the server name is ktest in all the right places,
after running the server exes in the order it said, i run the client and i get connection closed with a yellow circle in the top right that says server.
Maybe the euro mir doesn't work with the 1.9 emu server files, and i know you people know if it does or not, but hey i'm learning.
i'm actually downloading the 1.9 full client as i'm writing this to try and see if that works.

so, you kind people know my situation,
i'm eager to talk to you slanesh on msn because i got this feelin' you'll just go, do this, do this, and do this, bang sorted,

any answers to any of my queries would be appriciated, :)
