i try connect to a friends server, but all i get is a black screen and thn comes up connection closed like 5 mins l8ly, but the server is up can some1 elp me plz

either the server aint up u aint put server name in coreectly ( CaSe SeNsItIvE ) or u got the wrong exe www.fernys.co.uk to get a diff exe , search ur inis to change server name.

is the host on a router? And is there anyone else on the server who isn't on the same lan as him?

Are you 100% sure that the server is up, if it is then make sure that all of your ip's are right (in your ini files) and that they are all right in your friends server files etc. Also make sure that the ip isn't a local ip (eg 127.0.0.1) and that it is an internet ip etc. Make sure that you have the correct mir.exe aswell, and that you have the correct type of ini files. Btw DoomsTaker name has absolutley nothing to do with connecting to a server until you reach the server select screen so its deffinitly not that.

I'm also having this problem now, i'm networked to my downstairs pc, do the ports have to be different when networked?? It only seems to be the rungate.exe that isn't working it looks like this ---] [--- when it should look like this ---][---
