Blue screen

I get a big blue screen, with loads of white wriging that says "KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR", and mentions that it will have to restart bla bla.

really pissing me off this pc!

Hello, this problem took me months to figure out. its basically the hard drive idiling. then the power settings turn it to idle (atapi.sys) so when a request goes to the hard drive, the return signal say no, so you get the blue screen of death. turn all your power options off in bios and in control panel.

The 0x0000007a error code indicates that the requested page of kernel data
from the paging file could not be read into memory. As atapi.sys is your
basic IDE hard disk driver, it''s mostly likely that your hard disk or hard
disk controller is bad.

Please first check the issue in Windows Safe Mode. To do so:

1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On
a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems,
you can press the F8 key when you see the Boot Menu.

2. When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, select Safe Mode, and
then press ENTER.

3. When the Boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in
blue at the bottom, select the installation that you want to start, and
then press ENTER.

Does the issue occur only to the certain program or whenever performing any
operations in the system? Did it start to occur right after installing
Windows XP or after adding a new item (a device or an application)?

Done it 3 times tonight. So not always.

Took it to work, seemed to be OK, didnt do it for them, but they was not doing anything with it.

I come home, start using it and boom... off it goes!

Could it be related to a new virus? Two of my friends laptops have had this error at roughly the same time, within a week of each other and they had them for different amount of times.

On topic: My PC has crashed 3 times now. 1st time i didnt take notice of the error.

2nd time it just said dumping physical memory
3rd tieme it was the KERNEL error again!!!!!!!

I dont know urban lol, but the PC is at the shop been fixed now.

From the technical bits I have been looking at it is either a motherboard fault or a harddrive error. Either a file access error due to bad sectors or the cabel is loose lol.

Was a faulty harddrive.
