The thing isn't the drop rates, the problem is not many people play 1 Mir server for a long long time. It isn't an official server, it could go down whenever it wanted, tho I doubt it will with its team.
The private server scene has experienced too many high rates, and it has made everyone used to drops that are not extremely low.
I am not a low rate fan, but from what I experienced in this server it is very well created. I would even be tempted on coming back with better drops.
I honestly think this server would have a very low population if everyone had access to the files they created.
