I need a decent laptop. Will be used for homework, research, and some playing games on it. Just need a fastish processor, bout 512MB of ram and 128mb+ graphics card. Budget is around £500. Can anyone offer some help?

Hmm, seems I didn't make it clear enough. I'm looking to buy a whole laptop, I need some recommendations from people. And I doubt I can get that processor with the budget I stated, along with the rest of the things needed in a laptop.

At that Price point (£500 ish) your going to struggle to get a decent Gfx card on there, most will come with a Intel thing - fine for playing mir etc but crap at everything else..

Well I had been looking on www.ebuyer.com, and seeing as I don't know much about computers :P (all these processor types and that), they looked quite good (translation = had lots of pretty looking numbers). Could someone with computer knowledge look on there and see if this one for 499.99 is ok? I'll find a link now and edit the post.

At the end of the Day its all about Compromise, if your looking at a Laptop then the price straight away is going to be higher. If you need a laptop for General useage and the odd bit of Gaming then the £500 price range will indeed suit but dont expet to be playing Doom 3 or HalfLife 2 on that. My choice would be Uber Slim and not worry about the Grapics card at all as I have a Dektop pc for that.
All I really need is for it to run Mir2 and Mir3. I have no...need for other games really. I just want to join Dataforces 3AM chats with his buddies from the comfort of my own bed :P Oh, and work :P The 599 one on TINY seems alright specswise.
well tbh duno about price of these, my dad and my mate have them they are very nice pc's accessible and decent usage just a higher end one wiv a bigger HDD will be pretty much necessary, there called, "toshiba Satellite" they've proved reliable enuff to me and my family,friends so i recommend them
