In title, is there a software that can make your comp recieve bluetooth>? or do you need a bluetooth reciever?

In other words the answer you want is no, you need a bluetooth reciever to be able to recieve bluetooth connections to your comp.

thats like trying to use a tv remote on a old tv without an IR receiver.
you will need a bluetooth receiver.

What made you think that SOFTWARE would be able to emulate HARDWARE????

WELL, if we're going to be like that...

His question is perfectly valid, for all he knows he might have the hardware already that just needs software to receive the correct signal.

For example, he might have a standard wireless 2.4GHz network card, which technically with little modification would be able to send and receive bluetooth signals (close frequencies).

Now assuming the wireless adapters modulate/demodulate functionality is completely in software (as unlikely as this is), usage of the BT signal would only be a matter of a firmware flash and approapriate drivers.

Similar unlikelys that have also been accomplished through software:
Gameboy come webserver
v92 Modem come SMS sender
Digibox come 800mile SOS transmitter
