Hello.

Was wondering if I had the windows installation files on Hard Drive A [that does not have an OS on it], would I be able to somehow run the installation from Hard Drive A onto Hard Drive B or is an installation disk compulsory.

PS - Is Win2k3 better/safe/faster than XP pro? (when win2k3 is used as a workstation rather than a server...)

Ermm, i am not to sure on this m8. But i would say no :( You would need to put them onto disc, then allow your pc to bootup of it so you can install windows on your master hard drive.

Please correct me if i am wrong.

heh, take it you wanna buy sum discs to put the windows install files on??? well, sometimes normal recordable/re writable discs dont boot automatically on system bootup. Not sure why but the computer just doesnt boot up off some of them :(

I think u need to press F8 on system startup so the computer boots up off the disc. Well, i know its an *F* key lol.I think its either F8 or F6.

NOTE: This worked for me, i am not sure if it will for you, but it should do.

He has to get a bootable CD image in order for the computer to be able to boot from it.

Yes, it's possible, so long as you make a point of specifying the destination partition and drive letter during setup.

If you don't, you'll install right over the top.
