Looking for a cheap dedi for my server, anyone got a link to a good reliable cheap dedi?

Never bought one before so this will be my first but I cannot keep hosting on my PC, too much power.

Well not looking for spend over 100. Between 20-50. Reliable, good and can run a mir2 server.

I went for future hosting to begin with:

Their customer service was awful and they had no DoS protection, but for $80 a month what did I expect?

I guess the price depends on how big your are expecting the server to be and what server files? A simple VPS (virtual private server) would be enough for 0-100 players I suspect and you can grab them for £5-15 pounds depending on operating system.

If your going for a live server I would suggest something with some DoS protection.

So does this VPS sound good for C# files for 0-100 players? And will I get remote access to it?

Anything with a price in dollars means that the majority of players latency is going to be massive as it is generally implies that it is going to be hosted in the US which surprised me when Sam linked that.
Me personally will always get something hosted in the UK/Europe.

$17 sounds extremely cheap, considering normally for a windows licence your looking at around £10 a month?

You really need to decide what you want from it? How many players are you expecting? Are you going to be hosting a website on it?

Just looked at that website, the $17 vps isn't windows and is hosted in michigan.

A dedicated server is dedicated hardware in a rack (a stand alone computer basically).

A VPS is a shared piece of hardware segregated virtually (virtual machine on a dedicated server with other virtual machines).

I am not sure how resourceful the C# files are, but I would guess they are the same or less than the delphi files and AceM2 was hosted on a virtual machine... My advise would be to not go in all guns blazing, go with the cheaper option and upgrade if need be... VPS's are always helpful for hosting files/websites if nothing else.

DK makes a good point, we had a dedicated server from them which was hosted in London, but be sure to look at the locations available... Any UK is good and France/Germany (anything just across the pond), any further out and your players will end up paying the difference in latency.

C# has never been tested with 100 players, so who knows. You're in untested waters hosting a c# server.

I did, but did not see that it is only hosted in US. going to go with dedi server 1&1 for £19.99 its cheap to me

For a lot of our needs... They are cheap and the service is fantastic, I am not sure if they have Windows VPS though, we use them mainly for hosting and I am a Linux fan boy, so I just get Linux boxes.
