Checking what programs are running/loading in the background?

Hey people, when im playing any sort of mir (Private server, euro etc) the screen keeps going multi-colored every 5-10 mins or so....
I know the problem is a program of some sort keeps running in the background because just before it turns multi-colored my cursor goes into a loading cursor (If you know what i mean)
I was wondering if there is a program that records whats happening or shows what programs are running in the background (i've done CTRL, ALT+ DELETE and gone to prosses but it's got loads and it might fk my comp up if i accidently terminate a needed program...


Any help ? (the loading sign shows up even when im not on mir or anything...)

You've answered your own question. The task manager shows whats running - its your job to investigate the processes that are there.

You might also find the Process Explorer from sysinternals (now microsoft) handy. (google it).

Download that, gives you an option to "google" the process and gives you a definition of it and whether it is maliscious or not.

i used to have this problem, all i had to do was minimize then maximize again. nothing hard :P

As long as you don't touch any system processes or Explorer.exe, the rest can be terminated without interfering with your computer.

It happens if you have a folder open with pictures.. I know that lol.

Happened with any windows explorer window open for me.

Could you possibly explain why exactly it happens?
