Closed Beta Competition

In response to some of the previous posts.

I am personally appreciative of all the feedback we have had previously and continuously read (and I would say 9/10 action positive, productive) feedback.

As for the way we have chosen to go about the beta testers... Regardless of how long you have been playing the game or how much better you believe yourself to be over other people, people who are interested in playing the server are of equal standing to anyone else and therefore should hold an equal opportunity in becoming a beta tester.

As to why Facebook; Facebook is available to everyone (even those who choose not to use it) and provides us with a free mechanism to count how many people interested in the server, yes we have 500 odd likes, but how many people are actively interested is a completely different figure... Using Facebook not only provides us with an opportunity to increase the server community (which is in the best interests of everyone), and a simple and fair way of choosing some beta players, it also provides us with some invaluable data e.g. a minimum number of players to expect to launch with (which we could then toggle up/down the spawn rates in noob areas to accompany for)...

I invite many of you (not all and I apologize to those who do generally want to provide valuable feedback and some times feel they are ignored) to think of the server as a community and what is best for that community, rather than thinking about what YOU can gain from it.

its not about how long peeps have played! not everyone cares to help to benefit the server! i wouldnt wanna beta test myself but id alteast like to know people who can be arsed to find bugs n faults are testing it!

im much better just playing and reporting things i find and suggesting changes! which i bet most of us would say aswell

I'm not posting this to troll in any way but its gone from 2weeks of downtime from acem2 closing to a good few months now, then you tell us only 15 ppl will be able to try it out after EVERYBODY has waited ages ..... *sigh* why not just do an open beta and a char/databade wipe when u launch properly?

Could be because the amount of players might suffer if they start with an open beta, some people take betas way too serious and grind it out like no tomorrow just to then cry about the wipe before the official release and quit.

At least this way everyone gets a fair start and no experience on the content which is probably more exciting and fresh then everyone already knowing what to expect. (assuming most content is new)

Not sure i agree with the facebook thing though, what if 15 inactive players win lol.

Select a few personally AND expect their reports

Select a few randomly for general play testing, Don't expect any reports.

I could answer you: "if you want to silencing the people, created your own server and play it alone, without opening it to the public, this is Samuel one, not yours"
But it's just a joke, Jacko, I know what you mean whit your post.
I'm sure nobody blames Samuel here, we are just giving him our support, the way we think he need at moment.

I do not stand negatively against feedback given over the Facebook part , but at least people could use some constructively build feedback

It's a private server so you can't exactly enforce a NDA on the closed beta testers like many MMO publishers do; but will you be encouraging/discouraging these 15 beta testers from showing screenshots/fraps/live-streams of their gameplay?

Regardless of the intentions of beta testers they do have a massive advantage at launch and I'd be a lot happier knowing at least some of the info they learn about the game during the beta test will be shared publicly.

I see no reason to (or even a sensible way of) stopping people sharing screens, videos and/or information about the server.

I'll be streaming regardless when it opens :P. Recently started streaming/making videos out of the vods, and Mir has so much drama it's just too good of an opportunity to pass up.

I don't share the link on my FB page but I severaly alerted twenty of my guild mates, we are going to get into the closed beta, using FB pvt mess.
I'll play the server, so I want many people as possible...
The problem we all can see is: Beta testing is a serious matter and a "casual" player is not suitable to participate.

On truth ... I think that Samuel does not really need any beta and the game is ready, on the contrary, they need to reach a lot players on the server.


This is why I have no interest in the beta, but I hope that it opens and, most importantly, it closes early, so I can play
