How important is college?. When i first started i had some family problems but besides the point, before i knew it i was falling behind in most of my AS studies, i blame the teachers for being themselfs really, you ask a question in class they make you look dumb in front of everyone for asking it, if you dont ask it but you tell him later on why you didnt ask it your still the 'bad' guy because you didnt ask it in the 1st place. As i really find it hard to concentrate in class due to rl activities, broke up with my gf, gran passed away last year and some other problems which really complicated my life. Anyways im not here to tell you my life's story but to see what your input is on this situation ... " If you get bellow 40% in the mock exam you are booted out the classroom ", im pissed off as nothing seems to come right in my life, yeah i recon i failed that mock exam, but i mean the whole year is almost finished and they will kick a person just because they underperfomed in a mock exam? How fair is this? And about my rl situation, i havent been telling teachers because i know they dont care except for when they get their money at the end of the week. :(

i failed sixth form, miserably, due to lack of effort and motivation.
I now work full time 8-4 on a pretty crap wage, with not really bright prospects for the future except for one promotion in September.

Take from that what you will.

Yeah my college course sucks, BTEC National Diploma, it feels ilkt it was structured for people who are less intellectual than me (I know that may sound somewhat arrogant), but it's how i feel, might drop it =/

i did a btec in computers, to say the least i ain't all that great on them, (doing electronics & computer systems @ uni) but they are piss easy. in the first year i never really went, worked and stuff got fek all marks then stopped working full time and went for the second year and still managed D M M and was only like 4 marks off DDM - btec is a piss easy way into UNI

As long as you knowhow to type in MS Word, you'll fly through a BTEC, I might look for an apprenticeship...

i did the exact same, but i decided to do the btec and went from there to uni, the btec is easy trust me, its a google copy and paste exercise. Saying that trade is not a bad job once u become qualified, and after u become qualified (do your 4 years or whatever) u can go onto do other courses to enhance that, what my mates doing atm

WORD!!! worst 2 grand i ever spent but at lest i now have paper saying i can do what i already knew i could do.

If you want to go to uni take AS English, science and an AS to do with something u wanna do at college (not anything to do with computers). from my vast experience with college all the computer courses are full of crap [fact] intermediate was a joke seriously al i can remember is that they were hooked up on you having your c's for English and maths to get on the advance course.

All i can say is that IF you wanna pass forget everything you know because its wrong even if it isn't because the tutor knows best(try telling that too a teenager) i finally got this in the first quarter of the second year by which time i had done my self over as the tutors wouldn't give my work a glance because of my previous falling out over right and wrong.

thats my two pence on the subject

Well now i wish i chose to do just one course, which involved learning to repair computers .. but i didnt. Also i had bad guidance in my courses, chose maths, computing, graphics and technology which are pretty stresful mondays i finish at 6:30 from 9:00 ... i told a teacher who was in charge of changing courses, to cancel maths for me but he was like " you got an A for maths" , you will do fine. I told him no, to stresful and he started blabbing about me chosing the wrong subjects and from what he sees the only sensible subject i chose is maths, like wtf? who is he to say whats sensible for me ..

I got below C in all of my GCSE subjects, did two vocational courses in business admin and am now 18 and going to uni in September to do a BA in business studies. All paid for by my employers (about 7 grand course).

But I might soon have an offer to become a trainee psychologist, which in a few years once I finished a degree would put me on like 40k working for local government, more if I went private.

But sure, go to college. But just remember that experience > *. I chose vocational over college for that reason, and by the time my mates have finished uni I will be a few months behind them sure, but will have made in excess of £100k average if current salary doesn’t rise (which it obviously will) all from being in employment, not forgetting the 5 odd years experience, the pension which started when I was 15, etc. Plus the fact I now have my own property.

college has always been a downfall. but it all depend on the teacher an the class rly. if the class r willing to listen the teachers r better but i will admit thats only 20% of them the rest cudnt care less and just get u to copy from text books ect ect. the only point in it is to get out of a job for another yr or 2. ok it will help in the end but its still crap i learnt nothin much from 2 yrs in college what a complete waste of time it was.

I also did tha course. Its really very easy. Nothing to worry about but when the assignments and that are so easy you just arent interested on anything people have to say really.

Assignments come in thick and fast usually. But you need to keep on top of them or its a pisS take to get back on track.

I think you are labelling all teachers with the same brush here to be honest. But if you're not getting on very well in a class for whatever reason you should comment to your teacher, it is their job to help you. If they do nothing follow the chain of command. Worst could happen is you get transfered to a different class. The simple fact is if you say nothing it will carry on and you're the one that will suffer, not the teacher or the school.

As for being belittled in the classroom I know what you mean but the question is, is the teacher calling you stupid or just trying to push you to see if you can find the answer yourself. Or what sometimes happens :( showing you that anyone else can answer the question, thereby showing you up. Again you should talk to the teacher, etc as above for the same reasons.

There is a lot of pressure on you at the moment and I can empathise.
