Computer aint running as fast as it should - help plz?

spec:

2gig processor
512MB ram
geforce4 MX 440 64MB, crap i know
TFT flat panel monitor 17"
70Gig HDD 7200RPM

my fps is 40-60 odd yet he jumps on my screen like i used to do to him.

all drivers up to date, but yet my mates fps is better then mine and he is a lot faster:

1.7gig processor
256MB ram
onboard 16MB graphics
also his monitor is really old and on its way out
40Gig HDD 7200RPM

he gets 50-70 fps and jumps on my screen as i said.

Also we have the same operating system windows xp pro, same internet connection, same provider, same area.


any help because i used to get 80-100+ fps thanks - im stumped

Could be any number of reasons.

Try shutting down some processes, or toning down the GFX & Sound qualities ingame. Things like specular effects sure take their toll on older GFX cards.

Then perhaps try a system restore?

Reinstallation should really be your last option, but if you do, stick with XP Pro.
