its been happening a while now and im still not sure why it does it. i sumtimes get a message from my virus scanner sayin its found a trojan, but it always says its quartentined it. ive ran loads of spyware removers and it doesnt find any of that.
after its crashed i look in my virus scanners logs and it always says it had a ping attack at the time it crashed. yet the attack is coming from my routers ip..

anyone any idea why this is?

it seems the crash constantly when im on games, as in every 5 minutes. pisses me off no end.

could be a virus thats trying to send info somewhere and your routers blocking it? or a virus that crash's your pc by ping'ing yourself lol

format doesnt make a difference. the same still happens, which makes me think its not a virus or anything. it could the the virus checker i suppose, but pc-cillin has always been good at detecting things. its also my firewall so i cant exactly switch it off.

Data corruption may occur when you are using an MS-DOS-based program in MS-DOS mode if your hard disk has a hardware error. Your computer is in MS-DOS mode if you started your computer with a system startup floppy disk, or if you selected Command Prompt Only from the Startup menu, or if you selected Restart in MS-DOS mode from the Shut Down Windows dialog box. It only occurs in Windows if the Performance tab of the System tool in Control Panel indicates that the disk file system is using MS-DOS Compatibility mode.
CAUSE
This problem can occur if MS-DOS does not process hard disk errors correctly when the hard disk is being accessed by using LBA mode (extended interrupt 13). This can cause data to be returned that has not really been read or the failure to completely write data to the disk. In either case, no failure is returned to the program.
