well when i setup my BIOS it was already set to 75 Degrees and it works a treat

/ancient

Not all are! Ive seen BIOS with default settings of 60 and even 50 degrees for auto system shutdown. My CPU runs full load at about 35 degrees, so I will never reach 75 unless my Cooler fails.

wuah what u do ppl ?? he have no knowledge from bios or even bios software without any knowledge dont let him play with it or he make something wrong is wondering and must buy a nep pc cause he cant change bios settings or reset it on hims own.

and from my opinion it is diffently the CPU fan all off u talk about with or without fan but in 90 % there is only a big dust part between the ventilator self and the coolingrips in most case thats why the cpu have an attentionstop and save the cpu for over heating. so make clear u have no powercable on the pc and take ur fan self from the collerrips (u dont need to put up the fill coolerpart from the cpu socket) than u will find a fat dust (german staubteppich) between it make it clean and ur pc will run again like a god.

Ive instructed him to increase the temprature shutdown setting in the BIOS, its not that hard, even for a novice. If its that big a deal I will talk him through on MSN if he wants, but I beleive he should be able to do it. Just because he doesnt know how to go into a BIOS doesnt mean he cant do it himself. Ive seen PCs by home users over the years shafted by novices, corrupting system files, deleting things they shouldnt yet you dont tell hime to stop booting into windows because he is a novice.

Having dust around the CPU socket or cooler wouldnt set of an autorestart. I have seen cooler thick with dust and as long as the fans still spinning its kept in running. He hasnt specified if the fan is clogged up with dust, although he says the fan is running. Ive seen an old P3 machines run at 110 degrees at a LAN party and still go. Why? Because he disabled his warning systems, it wouldnt shut down only burn out. You tell him not to mess around with a BIOS, yet you tell him to start stripping his PC apart to clean it! Im telling you, if its not the temp setting being to low causing an auto restart id be very surprised.

Dust will not cause a auto shutdown unless its impairing the fan. Let me know if your bios change works. Also, check in the bios, probably in the same place as the temprature change what the idle CPU temp is.

Well, just to throw a towel at that, I have 4 formal university IT qualifications including a Level 4 BTEC (diploma) as well as a IT systems & business analysis BTEC level 3. Have been building PCs since 1992, have been building my own PCs since 1995, have been network support engineer for my local council, have been IT manager for a video & tv production company so as you can see, my IT knowledge isnt just having a PC and thinking I know best.

Hes just confirmed that dust is not the problem, so without sounding ****y, trust me 100% its not the dust.
