Ive set my router up and changed all the ini's but i get connection failed when i run mir.exe. I think i may have changed an adress to my global IP instead of my local ip. Is this obviously the case?

I dont know if anyone will be able to help with the information ive given, but it may be obvious.

Thanks,
Lemoe

From what I remember when writing those guides (I dont help people much nowadays) most of the IP's are supposed to be your internal IP's. I cant even find the 2 guids I wrote. The one that crystal server stole and added a few screenshots to and claimed as their own went with their site, and mine was deleted.

Ill see what I can dig up and post what I find.

Edit: Seems most people were unable to connect from their LAN, I honestly have no idea why. Would be helpful if someone else reading this could post the 127.0.0.1 method of configuring routers, and see if that makes any difference in this case. I really don't work with the Mir2 files or anything like this anymore. The original gude the Lemoex is using is here:

He's already done that using my belkin guide, however he cannot connect to the server from the host computer, or a computer on the network (belkin routers are weird)

Ok, my friend got connection closed too, so ive done something wrong (big surprise lol). So, i think its editing the ini's to my ip. Im not sure which should be my local ip and which should be my global ip (apart from the ones covered in Atomicides guide.

Could anyone tell me what is what? (logingate ect)

Thanks,
Lemoe

Thats not very clear.

1. Can your friend connect successfully to the entire server?
2. Try using the same EXE as he uses if 1. is 'yes'

Hi sorry,
Right, ive managed to get onto the game on my computer now (the game was closing due to the rev hex edit), but my friend still get connection closed, as far as i know ive got everything set up right (but i obviously havent or it would work!)

Anyway, what ip should the mir.ini and mirsetup.ini have? I think these maybe wrong atm.

Thanks,
Lemoe

Your friends config files should point to your internet IP.
Your config files should usually point to the same address.

Im no expert, but i assume its because each time you reconnect, your IP changes, therefore all the notepads much change with it?
