That was referring to the performance, and as for the pricing being 'now'... sure, where can I buy one of these new processors?

You can't....

No, I'm pretty sure you said that was referring to price, notice the pound sign:

The mid range models of each will be a world apart from £50 cheaper, just wait and see.

You can't buy them now because they are not available. Then again, let me ask YOU what YOU would do...

Buy an X2 3800+ NOW for $300 USD..... or wait a couple weeks and buy an E6300 for $180~ USD that DESTROYS the X2 3800+.....

Listen, I'm not here to bring on some forum fight or anything. HELL, I'm typing this post from an A64 machine! I LOVE AMD! My main rig is AMD! My brother's rig is AMD! If my dad would upgrade, his rig would be AMD lol! But when Intel Core 2 Duo is released to the public in the next couple weeks, you can bet I'll be ditching AMD.

Oh ye, and especially being an overclocker... the fact that a CHEAP LOW END Intel CPU on AIR COOLING can rape the HIGH END AMD CPU ON PHASE CHANGE.....

When I said in this post that the figures aren't suprising you somehow managed to link that back to an entirely different post when I did mention the cost.. i'm not disputing what I said before.. when I said it's not suprising i ment the benchmarks you linked to..
But can you please wait until AMD lower their pricing before you start comparing them? The moment Intel announce availiability is when they'll announce exactly what the price cut will be, until then you just can't be posting prices for a processor that will soon be lowered in price and a processor that isn't even availiable yet.. i'm not there to dispute the upcoming powerhouse of Conroe.. your just ruling out AMD way too early for me. It will not be the answer to every system out there.

AMD already announced the price cut long ago... it will come on the 23rd if memory serves me correctly.

The prices I posted WERE the new ones YET to be implemented...

How did I get these magical numbers!!! Well... because AMD already released them...

CURRENT AM2 X2 3800+ PRICE: $300 average
PRICE CUT LATER THIS MONTH AM2 X2 3800+: 170~ average

Therefore no new price surprises.

Why? We know Intel is the new powerhouse, and the prices for BOTH companies have already been released.

When did I say it was? The only sure answer I can give is if someone is building a DUAL CORE system. Then there is no question, conroe is the right choice.
