Worthing is depressing.
Ok, i shall write this in full... and yes i was a retard for not turning off the power :(

  1. I turned off PC
  2. I removed the screw holding harddrive chassis in.
  3. it slipped and clonked the motherboard.. thus, my pc turned back on and off over a 5 second period.
  4. i removed the cables, and one of my 2 HDD's (i added this in originally until i got my external cases for transporting them)
  5. plugged back in, turned on..
  6. Screen pops up, f1 to continue so i skipped rest.
  7. PC restarts, CPU fans full blast, and my date was set to 1/1/2009 10:30!

What should i do? Spend $$$ getting it fixed? Or go buy a new motherboard & CPU? As most websites i read say the fan going full blast is a result of one being busted.

if you have a spare CPU / friend who has one, try just replace the CPU. i wouldn't purchase replacements parts until you identify the exact problem, as it could cost more than required.
