Im currently hosting my server with the perthetic Managed.com. Does anybody recommand and hosts that offer good support for around £50 - £70 pm. Im currently hosting:

Redhat with CPanel/WHM
Intel Celeron 2.4GHz
512MB DDRAM Memory
80GB EIDE Hard Drive
1,000GB Data Transfer

Anything better or close to this would be ace (Anything without a celeron :brows: )

Imo a 2nd PC would be much cheaper than renting a server. I have PC (on 24/7) and a lappy both on my home network. Doesnt cost too much for electricity etc. But a server would be better if you would want something hosted 24/7, because they are more reliable than a PC.

This just my opinion, i am no expert with pc's & servers etc

Yup I would assume so too. However there is the problem with the upload speeds, most ISPs don't give anything close to their download speeds... take Blueyonder with a maximum upload of 278kbs, with a download speed of up to 10mbs.

if you download at full speed 3.0Mbps 24/7 for a month... that's about 1000G traffic.

and no way will ISP love you. I am not sure if UK cancel their lines if they are downloading way too much.

and most likely those servers are more reliable... 99.9999999% uptime thingy... lol

Nope, ISPs cannot cancel your line in the UK without a months (usual service period) notice on paper. There are exceptions of course, say if your ISP discovers illegal use of their lines etc, however I don't believe hosting a game server [in general] is illegal (due to the certain laws [DPA] they are not aloud to look into the specifics of files or give them to anyone outside their company to look at).

Most EULAs set the requirements anyhow.

dedicated server`s are worth it byt its the fact that they normally on a 100 mb connection however this connection is on a network with about 10 pc`s so you could have lag if every 1 decides to use thier`s @ the same time e.g ragezone thats y they get lag sometimes + the distance away from it makes more lag
