Discussion about New tao Pet

I know it will be a while until it comes live and as Samuel said its still on the making I want to help with few suggestions regarding the new pet and I hope other taoists might contribute as well.

As I see a new tao pet should somehow fill the 1 by 1 killing alternative to hunting. Depending on skill level the pet should fulfill that role with little less efficiency at making %exp then mass lure play-style. Please consider that in mind when you chose how it is.

I prefer be melee and I don't know if it is possible to change the damage done to players to be less then what monsters receive from the pet (also with wizard pets) so that if wont unbalance pvp. Other alternative is to make it slow/melee so that in pvp is useless.

Another idea I have is pet scale dmg with tao DC instead of SC. Reason for this is all the high lvl items have DC on them so tao will be a hybrid at high lvls (pet being high lvl skill maybe).

I am not willing to discuss appearances here, it will be most likely the Demon from mir3 which is cool (had also a ranged attack).

Would it be possible for Base SC to decide the pets "strength"? Everyone goes for top-end... This would make people think about how they kit up. But then again, what's to stop people wearing loads of base SC then summon the pet then put other SC kit back on and go hunting. I'm not sure this is just an idea but is there any way that if you removed some base SC it would lower the pets strength? Like checks or what not? I don't know I just have the ideas.

I would like tao to remain hybrid thus choosing DC seems better as all the top tier items have plenty of DC.

The only problem I see here with scaling dc/sc on pet dmg is not exploit it by for example wear high dc/sc, summon pet then go for other stats and have pet strong. This needs to be taken into consideration.

Just a random idea but what about giving the new pet the ablitly to use wars half-moon? would improve the speed at which tao's can kill if only a little

pets dont scale with sc / dc and sam has already stated he wont do it.

its like i said in the other thread before it was locked.

making original pets scale with sc is a better idea than adding another pet (which will eventually fall under the same fate) while 3 other of our main spells become useless.

personally id rather have NEW spells than have a new pet which is purely there to take over an existing pets role. its not logical to give war / wiz a new unique spell, then lumber tao with a spell they already have (which should work), instead of an upgrade.

I didn't read about the part where scaling with sc/dc can't be done but I guess it would require too much effort. The new lovely pet should have then a high dmg on monsters single target or else will be useless like the other pets we have. And it will be a shame :(

Make it a tank that moves slow hits slow but hits hard sometimes like dd so it has ther random chance of hitting high damage

How about a pet that has a base stat but can equip items (not normal items though special ones only pet can use) like heroes? This would enable the team to have a pet that they can evolve and not have 5-6 pets as the server goes on longer.

Maybe some rare items that mobs can have a low chance of dropping and quest driven items as taos get higher levels and require a base standard stronger pet.

edit: requiring items would also make a decent gold sink for taos.

scaling can be done but unless its a low lvl pet then not much attention should be given to it. ( depending the average level on server when thinking about its release).

I think there's 3 pets for low lvls: Skeleton, Shinsu and Deva.
