How to get in to making NPCs,Items,Mobs,Editing things - DM2

Well I have always wanted to get in to doing this, never managed to get around it. I have the funds etc to provide hosting as I have done in the past for some servers but I have never really tried coding npc's, quests, things in mir. I have a lot of ideas but would like to start with a basic DM2 server tbh (I been told its quiet difficult) I dabbled in VB maybe 10 years ago and played around with mIRC coding.

Just wondering, what is the best way to learn how to start developing a server? I have seen old 1.4 by smeagol and good things to read.
Any help or advise wanted please,

Working with DM2 files aint difficult at all, maybe abit boring to setup and get started with but it's not hard due to lomcn ^^

I had alot of help setting my dm2 files up as it was my first time using mssql, lol

download thedeaths server files in releases (use these with 2.3 euro client)
download mssql (also in thedeaths thread)
follow the sql setup guide in the thread
and if you get errors when starting the server, post in help section xD

all the things you listed are all edited in the mssql databases, easy to do & figure out.

The other thing is TD's files are not fully complete, I don't think. You will have to add some stuff on your own. Most of the information can be found in his updates.doc.

Brill, the host I would be looking to use would be the £89.99 one from 123-reg.co.uk. Are these a good hosting company?

Some people have given them a good rep but others have said they are not very good. I personally havent used them so I couldnt answer the question.
