will i find any difference in the speed of lets say Intel dual core 3.0Ghz 925 instead of Intel Core 2 Duo E4300?
does it worth to spend 50$ more to upgrade?

As a rough comparason of cpu power. A Pentium d 3.0Ghz will encode DVDs at arround 90-120fps. A core 2 duo E6300 1.86ghz will do them at 280-350fps. If you overclock the CPU to 3.4ghz you can get 750fps out of it

thanks, if we are already in the subject,
i know that regular processors go on 32bit, that means that 1 core can handle 2GB ram, now if i am putting on each core 2GB ram, will it be like 4GB ram, or it will be 2GBx2 which means that each core will have its own memory?

I'm no expert, but actually, the OS running on the system, 32bit windows or 64bit, can affect how many Gb of your ram will work. OS's such as Windows XP Pro and 2003 Server allocate 4gb virtual memory address space equally. Limiting 2gb for user mode address space and 2gb kernel mode address space. This means If you have 4Gb ram installed, you will only b able to use 2gb, and the other 2gb being allocated to kernel mode processes. The 3Gb switch, a startup option (/3GB in boot.ini), can be used to reshuffle the allocation so that 3Gb is for the user and 1Gb is for kernel mode. 64bit OS's are now able to take advantage of 4GB of addressable memory. so basically if you wanna use over 3gb ram, get a 64bit processor and OS... i think..

it's actually the OS that is limiting the amount of RAM...

32bit OS will take only 4GB (3.5GB usable and each app can only use 2GB max)
64bit OS will take more than 4GB (vista ultimate can take 128GB lol)

most cpu's are now 64bit... so you should pick the right OS to install... and keep in mind 64bit has less app/driver support.

i was reading article that most of that 64 bit computers are just pure scam, the computer are not entirely 64bit, some parts are 32bit and therefore u can load only 2^32 bit ram (minus 1 because the computer use it for other things) which is equal to 2GB ram.
as far as i know the only single core for pc that can handle more then 2GB ram is xeon cores, as they are entirely 64bit.
i could be wrong though.
but my question is still the same, since u can put only 2 cards of memory on each core (2 slots for each core), will it still be 4GB ram or 2x2GB ram?
