Ok. A popular debate on Mir seems to be whether your position when killing a boss affects the drop. What I mean by this is that usually, the best item tends to drop in the top left space next to the boss / mob. I know that 80% of people will lure the mob into space to finish it off or make sure nobody stands above it.

I personally think that it's a myth and that it has no affect on the drops but I can't help but lure it or kill from the bottom just in case. I have done a bit of testing on my own server with this and I am convinced it just stacks somewhere else.

What are your views? Just interested to know if people think it matters or not.

This isn't intended to start a flame war or anything. Just pure curiosity.

Usually a kill from the bottom and moving into open space is to just let the drop spread out over the floor space.

Position of kill doesn't effect the drop. Hell if a 'top-left of mob' made it so i could get a rare every kill i would be on that!

No I don't mean that the top left supposedly always has a rare in it but it is usually where the rarest item of the drop is. Most of the time in my experience anyway. Like xXxX said though, I have had drops in all kind of situations. Against walls, in lures of mobs, completely surrounded by players etc. I don't personally think that drops are affected but I still can't help but move to the bottom just in case lol.

Ok its simple. If there is space to drop, as in the floor is not covered 5 items high the items will drop until its stacked 5 x high.

All a myth, infact on previous servers, my best drops have always been when there is less room to see a spaced out drop lol

I understand that we see the bedt drop in the top left of mob most times because the drop system will clocl thro the chances from lowest to highest.
So if you drop an item it lands top left of you.
Boss kill will run thro a series of rolls.
Para 1/10000 - fail
Tele 1/10000 - fail
Life neck 1/100 - pass
And so that item takes the first availible spot. it then runs through the rest.

So if in open u will see in top left but if in cluster it will still drop but 99% of the time it will be stacked on top due to drop roll priorities.

this is just my thought.
So it makes mo difference but if you want to instant see the drop do it in space

Ofc it matters where you kill it. Have you all no sense of visual aesthetics and style. Jeeez

It's a myth. When you are stood where drop would be it either drops somewhere else or on top of another drop.

On every server use played I have seen drops layer upto atleast 4.

It it would be the stupidest thug ever if that where the case anyway and at the mo not many bosses can be lured away as killed cleanly.
