I'm not a game designer, unfortunately. its something I've always wanted to do, but knew from the start i wouldn't have the mathematical brains, or imagination to be able to make a decent one.
I've been looking at a few open source fps games, but there are never any ones with decent graphics.
Let's say i was a half decent games programmer, with all the textures and meshes to hand.
Is it feasible to improve a games graphics with stripping the entire thing down?
What does a game engine actually do? for example, a lot of popular games use the unreal3 engine. Can you change what engine a game uses easily?
By questions are all just ponderous, and I'm just curious as to how a game is actually made.
