how do i stop programs from starting up when windows starts?

start->control panel->startup and remove the ones you don't want to auto start

simple as

I got no startup icon in my controll panel :S

the way i do it is start > run > type msconfig hit enter now click on the startup tab and take the ticks out of what u dont want starting on startup.
