error with sql

ive followed all the guides on this but cant get it to work.

im trying to restore the databases but it keeps coming up with an error...

device activation error. the physical file name 'c:\programe files\microsoft sql server\mssql\data\lom2_data.mdf' may be incorrect.
file 'lom2_chardata' cannot be restored to 'c:\programe files\microsoft sql server\mssql\data\lom2_data mdf' use with move to identify a valid location for the file.
device activation error. the physical file name 'c:\programe files\microsoft sql server\mssql\data\lom2log.ldf' may be incorrect.

restore database is terminating abnormally.

any1 have any idea how to fix this please?

make sure the paths ar correct,for example urs is D drive,go to the option tab(i think its that) and edit the path to d drive,or where ever the folder is.

right ivenow tried everything i feel is posible...

ive re installed the whole sql again. ive made sureevery path and link is correct yet i still have the same problem.

make a new DB called lom2 and then restore the database from device when uve selected it go to the general tab i think it is and force restore of it and that should help.

edit:- aslo as mentioned above if your sql installation is on any other drive than c:/ then you will need to change the locations in the restore box to the drive you have sql installed to.

in the image below is sql2005 but the principles are the same for 2000 so have a look.

if u havnt fixed it could be like what happend to me my dir is C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$SA but it norm trys to goto C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL just check

u need to try to restore the backup but using backup(restore this) or its somethin like that, anyways there is 2 of them in there and i had to use the other 1, it might have LOCMCNBackup aswell so look for that 1 (i renamed mine so i cnt find it out)

i had this problem when i was install it on windows on x86... basically the paths were wrong

when ur installin it.. make sure the paths are both

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server

and should be ok
