What it's replacing
Mounts in game

Why
Even though we have resources to introduce HD mounts in game, it's very limiting in a sense of feel for the game.
Riding around on a mount doesn't feel "Powerful" enough for an Immortal.


Feature
Shape Shifting

When an Immortal reaches a certain level, they are introduced to a mysterious lady known as Mercia.
Completing Mercia's quests will allow you to unlock Shape Shifting.

Once completed, you will be able to use Shape Shifting Stones, these stones allow you to embody creatures for better travel, as well as unlocking unique benefits depending on the stone you are imbued with.

Travel Speeds are the same, however their influences are different.
Restrictions on where you can shapeshift will apply.

These are just a few concept ideas for the feature, but wanted feedback before we fully implemented it.
We can also expand on the feature more than a base mount going forward, as well.​

The idea is amazing. Nice to see two features in Crystal being merged together in some way.

I like the idea of the stat increase, like normal mounts.

Are these effects only applied when the player is shapeshifted or as a permanent stat when equipped via the character panel? (Stat would be removed when the shape shifting stone is unequipped)

So you are replacing the character body itself to the body of a mount?

If so, great idea indeed, lovely, however what would feel weird is that I do believe that those Mounts have Harvest animation, Magic Animation, Attack Animation , Mining Animation etc

But great idea ... Maybe you can replace it with some monsters perhaps?

I actualy like the idea of having the animations left in, It's abit like Transform mixed with Mounts.

Would transforms be present in the server too?

I always wanted to code a skill that would transform you to a mob of a map, but what put me off honestly was that it feels weird to cast FireBall and mob does the basic meele hit animation for example.

But I m glad that others have bigger courage implementing this. Kudos.

Maybe a map that you need to sneak through ? Player transforms into mob of the map. Mobs deal instant death with no deathdrop but the death takes you back a floor.

bit of a bonkers idea.

EDIT: When transformed you can't attack or cast spells.

Actually such a great idea tbh!

Or if you transmog as a mob of same map, you deal +10% more dmg and take 10% less dmg from mobs.

Welldone 👏

You gain all the stats of your equipped Shapeshift; the reason it's not collective from all summons you have, as we have codex buff, a really nice item system and we don't want to over-flow with stats to start.
> If later, in the game we feel it won't impact the game, we could do a collective stat increase.

You will have your Main ShapeShifting Stone (which dictates your shapeshift form)
Then various augments in the stone, which can have various stats - (including rare stats like +fire/ice/force/holy)

Good idea... For the stat boost I assume you'd also attack as the "Transform"? Or would you have to break transform to attack as normal?
