Few mir 3 questionsm (thinking of makeing a server)

being a mir 2 player, i barely know anything about mir 3 (tho it seems pretty similar, u hunt bosses, to get items, to kill other people quicker, just with an elements system thrown in)..


1) which files r best, holey or king.
2) what are the main balancing issues of mir 3 files.
3) does 90% of the community play for pvp like mir2?
4) Low/medium/high, or does it not matter as long as its thought out
5)what are the main mir 3 servers/there average UC's
6) how many people play mir 3 servers (are waiting around for a new 1)
7) why does no1 use the elements system..?
8) How many people are willing to play something, abit different (by different i dont mean ur average highrate/low/medium, with a few new caves/bosses and items) i mean something, really different, that changes how u level up/the max level u can get ect

or is mir 3 totally dead, and not worth my effort, and thinking of mir 3, as fourheros has 99% of the mir 2 community, and unless u can code, ur ****ed, and mir 3 servers all have to use the same files (i think)< so my imagination is the limits!

TBH there are still loads of people willing to play a KING Mir 3 / medium rate server but the problem is now days people make servers & close it after a week & thats the reason all Mir 3 players have move to play Mir 2.

100% people play Mir for pvp :)

Yes Mir 3 is dead now cause no one is able to make a long term server apart from few.

I hope my answers help you decide on which path to take.

1: Holley is most used at the moment, as king is very bugged.
2: Main balancing issues with any server, is Tao pet, Hunting Areas, Class items and EXP. As no one as yet have created a balanced server to the EXP rate.
3: Yes, as PvP is part of the game 90% of it's players expect this.
4: Ideally a x8 or x16 is a better server, but it has to be balanced correctly or it can fail with how it works.
5: Don't compare your server if you are creating one, to that of other servers. The highest user count on any server is at the moment around 20 players.
6: A good 60% of the current payer base for Mir3 are awaiting on a server that is correctly balanced and thought out.
7: No one has ever balanced this correctly, as you get a lot of OP on items from it if not done correctly.
8: Most will play a server that is extremely different from the ones currently available, but it's all about if you can keep the updates that keep it different from every other server that counts.

Mir3 is not yet totally dead as of yet, but the lack of a decent med rate server that is thought out correctly does put people off playing servers, especially when the only half decent servers around are low rate.

Unless someone or some team is willing to pay the money for the current up to date source, then Mir3 is going to completely die out. We are always waiting on the Chinese to release a set of files and most of the time they are so bugged that we don't bother with the files, Mir3 never has and never will have the development as what Mir2 does, due to the lack of interest and open source for it.

The king files are amazing from a gms point of view, its much easier to do events/quests because there are ways to stop players from exploiting, you have a much bigger amount of space for mobs/armors/weps/helms + other nice things that make the game more interesting but the king files are full of bugs.
So the players will come and play for a week or 2 but in a few months you will end up with 0 players.
When we moved to king we had 60+ players after a few months we had left about 10 players.
If you want to make a real server i sugest you go with holley.

If ur making a low rate you wont have any problems with balancing anything.I noticed most gms from high rate or medium servers have problems with items and stuff like that.

(Im speaking from my own experience as a gm) They like the pvp but there are ppl out there who are very nice players and will do good to a server that dont like to be pked every second of the day.But that depends on what kind of server you want and what kind of players you want on it, i prefer the peacefull ones :P.

I like low rates so...this is how it was designed, i dont see the point in having level 10k or whatever.

I dont know if my server is concidered main server but we do have 50+ players, goes up to 70+, zentaur is very old and i saw that his user count went up to 50+ in the past few days, dont know any other big servers.

Im guessing this question is for players so i wont answer this 1 :P

Not sure what ur talking about, but if you talking about fire/wind/ice/... added on items then we are using the elements...is there a mir 3 server out there who isnt?

Carefull with this, dont make it different different, ppl who play mir want to play mir,server have died because they wanted to be very different.Its good to be different but keep in mind you have a mir server and your players are mir players.

Mir for me and my players is alive and doing very well :), mir is dead for the ones who want it easy, for the ones who once opened a server, closed it in a week and went back to beeing players,most of the users on this forum will say mir is dead or will be very soon, if you ask the players who dont care about the files and making a server they will say "dead...no".
The gms are killing mir and not because there are no players to play it but because the dont care anymore.
Everyone is waiting for the chinese to make new items and maps.
If the gms would stop waiting and start making, even if its only for events (easter,christmas,new years, valentine, server birthday) then maybe their servers would have more players.
They need to know you care about them and about your server, adding event items and maps will take time and patience but most of the players appreciate it a lot and will remain on ur server.

These are my personal opinions, i did not mean no offend anyone.

I got the no1 Useing elements from the general chit chat, I think I'll be making one in the near future, just gotta learn the files which will take a while, do u have the same kinda commands ad mir2? Such as guildlists/ @ onmobdeath/ variables?

You will find scripting is somewhat different.

As for elements, I think a lot of GM's are too lazy to add them to mobs they add, hence why some people say elements are useless/not used)

Lol, i think elements is a real cool feature, do they work against players also? or just mobs?.
