[FIXED] It doesn't run?

I've been away from Mir for a long time now and everything has advanced at such a fast pace so I've come back to see what it's all about.. I kinda miss Mir!

I've downloaded the setup, installed and ran the patcher. I then go to start the client and it minimises to my windows bar, with the in-game music playing but I'm unable to access or see anything? I am unsure as to how I can rectify this, has anyone else had this issue?

I'm sorry, I haven't given you guys many details!

I'm trying to run it on my Windows 7 64-Bit machine.. I've tried changing the compatibility state to see if that made a difference and it hasn't.
GPU is a nVidia 570GTX

Yes combie, I've tried running it as administrator. I wish I could explain everything in greater detail but the reality is, not much happens!

I click 'OK' on the patcher to initialise the game, it proceeds to boot up but instantly minimises to the start bar with music playing. If I click the icon, the music stops as if it has been exited. If I click the icon again, the music starts but nothing happens on my screen.

It may be worth me pointing out that I tried another Mir (Ruby client) and although that went to the login screen, it was completely black with the music playing. I'm starting to believe it's something to do with my machine and not the client.

My next thought then is DirectX - what version are you on? - however on 7 this shouldn't be an issue though......

I'm running DirectX 11. I'm awfully confused, and desperately wishing to play Mir for the first time in such a long time! How ever am I going to cure my boredom!

I've also tried turning uPnP off. It didn't have any affect.

Apologies, I missed this thread, is there any message in !Debug.txt? Are you using more than 1 Monitor? And what resolution is your screen set at?

I was having this problem and also received lots of help but non of it worked.

I turned all process' off except for widows ones and it worked. The problem now is I have lots of program's not working lol but they aren't essential stuff I use all the time. So I haven't bothered messing with it further.

No problem at all Milo, long time no speak! I don't get any error reports nor warning messages. I simply click the "OK" button in the auto patcher to boot the game and it automatically minimises to the startup bar with the ingame login music playing. I click the icon to try maximise the screen but it doesn't do anything, it acts as if I have exited the game to desktop and the music stops.

I've tried running the game in compatibility mode for XP SP2 and SP3, I've tried altering my uPnP and closing firewalls, ports and all sorts. I haven't had any luck so far. DirectX is ver. 11.

I'm running my machine through a Samsung 32" TV, HDMI and resolution is at 1920x1080.

Could you open mir2.ini and set FullScreen to 1. Is this a PC or a laptop? I'm not sure how/if the Client handles hdmi out on Laptops

It's a PC mate, I'll attach a screenshot of my system specs via Speccy.

I'm re-downloading the client now and will install it and change the fullscreen at my first opportunity.
If I can remember correctly, I didn't have a mir2.ini, only a mir.ini and that was all in chinese?

This server doesn't like iobit. Turn off all the boosts and don't let anything run In The background. Malware fighter is one of the things I have not been able to use since I turned all the process' off but when I did use it it didn't find anything so thought "may aswell leave it off".

Iobit AV needs to have all the smart features turned off aswell.

Thanks for the advice d1craig! Unfortunately, I'm not running iobit but I'll try shutting everything else down.

Milo, I've just reinstalled everything and updated from the patcher. I'm still getting the same error, I've looked at !debug.txt and it reads:

I've tried uninstalling my GPU driver and reinstalling it from fresh but to no avail. It gave me the D3D error message when it was uninstalled, referring to the Direct X being out of date, so I know the .exe will give me other errors but one the driver had been updated I'm back to the minimising to the start bar.

I'm aching to play the server and get back in to Mir. Surely someone must have a rough idea?

You really should have a Mir2.ini, it comes via Patcher

You can create it manually though and just add the following information into it

FullScreen=0
InterfaceType=1
ScreenMode=1
BitDepth=1
MP3Volume=33
SoundVolume=76
BGSound=1
Sound=1
[Basic Settings]
DropItemsShow=1

Let me know how that goes

That has worked an absolute charm, thank you Milo! ^^

Something so simple - But autopatcher definitely did not download the mir2.ini so it could be something to look in to, to save this happening to others!

i thought the ini was created when the game was actually played, only made when you logged out so the game would save your settings?

EDIT - have you tried changing your gpu settings so they erm how to say it.... dont stick your monitor on the resolution you set ie. mine is set to 1980x1020 and the game now changes my screeen to the res of the game.

Maybe so d1craig! Going on that theory, since I wasn't able to get on to play it would explain why the .ini had not been created for myself.
