Over the last few weeks it’s been made clear by various private server owners that Wemade (who purchased the publishing rights in 2022) are now sending DMCA/Cease and Desists letters to all Flyff Private server owners.

Hopefully we don’t see this extend over to our community with the Mir titles.

I would like to point out that I think all this has arisen because of Flyff Universe being a fairly recent global release.

Some history:
Original Release
• Developer: Aeonsoft
• First released: 2004 (South Korea)

Publishing History (Global)

Flyff became popular in:
• South Korea
• Japan
• Europe
• North America
• Philippines

International publishing was handled by:
• gPotato (NA/EU)
• Later by Webzen
• Various regional publishers in SEA

Original Studio

Flyff was developed by:
• Aeonsoft

Aeonsoft later became associated with:
• Gala Lab

Gala Lab continued development of Flyff for years.

WeMade’s Acquisition
In 2022, WeMade:
• Acquired a majority stake in Gala Lab
• Secured control over the Flyff IP
• Began integrating Flyff into its broader publishing ecosystem

Flyff Universe Relaunch

After the acquisition:

Flyff Universe
• Released 2022
• Built in HTML5
• Runs in browser (no client download required)
• Cross-platform (PC, mobile browser)
• Based on older “v7-v9” era Flyff mechanics

WeMade positioned this as:
• A nostalgic relaunch
• Globally unified service
• Modern monetization

I’ve only released what was publicly accessible (even that was just links, not actual files)

No one on the forum has received any DMCA from wemade regarding Mir 1/2/3/4. (At least in recent times)

The only action I’ve had against myself was a copyright strike on my personal YouTube channel for posting 2 videos showing me playing Mir 5.

I think we’re pretty safe as we always have been considering how old Mir 2/3 are and a history of low enforcement.
