If they cant be now, they will be soon enough

You've not been playing long enough to see how things work. When DDD was bought out there was like one full mir set ingame? When he opened DDD he also opened Mir/Furious donations - instantly the server was flooded with furious kit and guess what? No furious at all had even dropped, and neither did any drop for like the first 2 weeks.

And levels not really relevant, he makes it easier and easier to level, and add to that exp x10 pots @ £20 each. By all means waste your time on the server if you have the money to throw away, lol.
Name 1 decent recent server without donations.

Theres a difference between donations and a p2p shop, donations should = consumables, the odd boost here and there so you can clear server costs

Not releasing items that havent even dropped yet for donations/keeping drops from mobs so rare in order that everyone rushes to donate when new kits availiable and making hundreds of £..

And El, ofc, you're level 100, took me to about 140 odd to realise, all the hunting, pking, and playing the market i was doing paled in comparrison to people like Itchi who donated for full furious kit as soon as it was released. Kind of takes the fun out of the game..

There have been plenty, just not in the last 2 years.

Well, kinda sucks when they PK just because they can, but still, gives you something to aim for.

I have nothing to say on this thread other than a response to this comment.

There is a difference between donations, "donations", and item shops that sell kits etc.

I'm not going to spell it out for you but there have been recent and decent servers that didn't have item shops that sell kits etc.

I believe the argument here is not about donations or even "donations", but the latter.

Hope I've cleared things up :)

Yet you fail to name any?

People need to realise how much hassel it is to run a server. You have people like you and Anon who are quick to judge a server for taking donations, but have you actually ever run a server?

Or sat down and thought about how much work is involved. Yes you can say its a hobby or whatever, but the players just don't see it that way anymore, they expect round the clock assistance.

As for Anon, Ben just followed the method he had used whenever adding new items to the shop, 2 new sets at a time. Yes he probably shouldn't, and has since said it was probably a mistake, but what was done was done, we couldn't change it after that.

You say drops are purposely low, but that isn't true. Its hard to balance donatable items that drop and their actual drop rate. Too high a drop rate and no one will donate, too low and people will moan. Fact remains, people still gain them from drops, you will never please everyone though.

End of the day, without donations there would be no server, there will always be people who aren't happy, but no one is making you play.

If you look at how other private mmorps are run its exactly the same in most cases, although myself i don't agree with it, you do have the choice either to play or not, people are enjoying it i suppose but i wouldn't bother personal because i don't nor have i ever agree'd with buying kits (donations) what ever you wish to call it, but it's all about money these days simple fact, your be very lucky to find a server which isn't in it for a buck or two, not saying some dont deserver it in the work that they do, i just think it can be done more fairly and equally using just exp potions buffs what ever to cover the server costs and to put a cap on how much can be donated for, the only server i've known to do this is nemesis 2.3 . All that a said it's down to the server owners on w;phat they do, and down to the players if they wish to play and (donate). Damn im pissed

Thing is though, put yourself in Ben's shoes. He releases this new furios kit. I'm guessing he must get a fair few messages from donators saying when they going to be donatable, how much they gonna be, ill pay £££ for it if you do it now etc.
Doubt any of you (even though you will say you would) would say no to £££ for typing @make.

Face it, people don't run servers for fun, because players are ****s, and its not fun running a server. I'd be looking for a nice little sum of money to make it worth my while running a server.

Lol, who the hell are you? I've been here for 7 years and you think I haven't ran servers? Most recent ones being Dragon 2.6 and Empire 2.3. Neither of which accepted donations for kits. None had 100+ users but that doesn't mean they weren't decent. Same goes for other peoples' servers.

And where in my post was I "quick to judge a server for taking donations"? I was correcting you, I made no comment about this server.

Hard to keep track of you when you get banned and change accounts. Enlighten me as to what servers you have run though.

That all depends what you class as decent, not many other people would class them as decent, along with me. I can't really comment on Dragon as ive never even heard of it, unless you mean Dragon Chronicles?

Empire, yeah it was long running, but hardly anything ground breaking.

I've seen you slate Ben over donations before.

I've been using this account several months now. Did I not just enlighten you as to what servers I have run recently...? Dragon was the first 2.6 server to go live. You haven't heard of it because you're little more than a "New Comer" with a big mouth.

You said decent, not ground breaking. Saying that we used ideas on Empire that you don't see on any other server...(no I won't be mentioning them).

I slate Bon for being a bigot among other things as well. Wanna bring that up out of the blue too?

Thought Hone was ran Empire?

And wheres Dragon now?

I can assure you i've been around LomCN for years, probably around 6 years or so. But why judge me as being a new comer? I probably know far more about mir files than you will ever know.

People seriously need to get off the donation topic already. FFS if people want to pay money to enjoy their time playing an online game, so be it.
Can't blame 4H and team for doing what is succesful and making a profit.
I and anyone else in their position would be doing the same thing. (don't lie hate mongers)

The only thing I have an isssue with, is that new players to FH have NO IDEA how bad it is until they're roped in and a high level, due to a careful moderation on FH and these forums.

Not everyone donates, but its such an uneven playing field. 'Donations' arent capped, meaning you can get as many bits as you can afford. Because of this the drop rate from bosses is so rare it will take you something like 2-3 days camping to get something remotely worthwhile.

So thats my only purpose, to bring to peoples attention what a greedy so and so Ben is, and to warn people the only way you're going to stand a chance of getting anywhere is lining his pockets. Everything he does is in order to get more donations - any player feedback/requests are met by a simple 'Shut up, stop crying, my server, go away' and where are the spell updates he announced like 4 months ago? Hard working, yeah, sure.

You say that, but less than 5% of people on the server donate.

So going off what you say, and taking the usercount being an average of 120, 6 people on the whole server donate. So your saying, 112 people are far worse off than these 6 people that donate? I bet anyone new who logged ingame today, wouldn't even be able to tell who donates and who doesn't.

If donatable items dropped everytime a boss is killed, why would anybody ever donate? Why aren't you arguing this on every single server thread? Every single server takes donations.

@Cels: Correct. I started about 4 days ago now... there is no clear difference between donaters & non-donaters. To be honest, I had a lot given to me (Not because I begged etc... I'll explain if you really need to know), so I may have more of an advantage than most newcomers, but still, it's not unfair on newcomers... apart from boss hunting! All bosses are always camped. :(

Have to agree, not only is the thread old, but all this talk of donations etc is well past it's sell by date.
