The FPS cap for most people seems to be 60 yet there are some who are above this. I am wondering how they achieve this as it could possibly give them an advantage over others if speed is tied to FPS.

Perhaps the FPS is capped relative to the refresh rate of the monitor instead of being hard coded as 60? I would appreciate if Sam could clear this up.

Thanks.

Even on a 120hz Monitor I rarely go over 60, on the occasion is spikes to 64 for some reason, I remember on euro mir that if there was a lot going on my fps actually went up. It won't just be tied to FPS cap, your ping will always have an effect on it.

The cap is 60 but some FPS programmes are unreliable. I used to use Razer Gamebooster and it would sometimes show 70-75 FPS. After some told me about a different programme, it never goes above 60. It's stable at 60 all the time for me.

Mir is locked to 60fps. The reason people get higher is because of the FPS logging program used. Fraps will always display a solid 60 for me, others display 64-67.
There are *ways* to get higher, but its certainly not advisable as you will most certainly be banned. Here's an example, I certainly wouldn't do it any further than the login screen :P

Fair enough if it's just down to the program reporting the FPS.
