Hey,

I am wondering if anyone else is having this issue with the FPS:

Since the update on Sunday I am suddenly unable to play with any sound on in the game. I usually run at a steady 60FPS, dropping to 35/40 in BW, but now, as soon as the sound is turned on in-game it becomes unplayable. Every sound causes the FPS to drop to around 3, then it will slowly get back to 60, then the next sound will send it back down to 3. That is without the Back Ground sounds turned on, SFX only and when I am in an empty map, just the sound of my sword 'swinging' is causing the lag.

I've let my patcher download the 1.7GB it wanted as I thought maybe that was the issue, but I had all the files already and the problem has remained.

As far as I can see it's not the laptop as no other software is effected by sound, so I doubt it's the sound card/drivers

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Edit: Obviously I can just play with no sound and there is no issues, but sometimes I like to have it on.

Yes
Does this happen during big groups of mobs/players? Or can it happen anytime / anywhere?

It's happening any time. It happened first when I was fighting one mob on my Warr, I turned on sound mid way through killing it and suddenly had crippling lag. There was maybe 1 other mob on the screen, but it wasn't engaged with me at the time and no other sounds were playing.

I then logged on my Tao, in Gi-Ryoong SZ, had 60FPS, tested a few spells with sound off and FPS didn't drop. Then as soon as I turned on sound it dropped to 2/3 fps again.

So I turned off sound again, there was no problems, back to 60FPS, went into the storage and the second I turned the sound on and 'swiped' my sword (shift clicked) I was back to 3FPS. No one else was in the shop.

I would be interested to know if anyone else is experiencing this issue...

Could you post a screen of your directx info? (go to start > run > dxdiag).

There could be a number of issues for instance it could be a out of date/incompatible driver, down to a faulty/failing hdd (finding it hard to access the sound files). Of course it could also be an actual bug, but it would be good to understand if others are also seeing this issue.

Hi Samuel,
I run the files from an external HDD, so you could be on to something there. I will move them to the laptop HDD, re-run the patcher and then run Mir directly from there tonight.
If I still have the issues then I will post my directX info.
Thanks.

Hi Samuel,

Looks like you were right about the HDD.
I transferred everything to my laptop from the external HDD, re-ran the patcher and the issue is no longer there.

Thanks for your help.
