Don't take below as a moan/rant but more of a query with feelings haha...

To start, Great work on the client/server, will you eventually release this progress on github?

Been playing for a few days now however I feel the game slightly intimidates me to not want to play... I feel from playing old mir2 (around spider patch) to playing the later mir's to then playing this one I feel there's a lot of changes which take away what I loved from the traditional mir game. Parts for items seem a little strange for me, I'd prefer if the same length of time finding parts for stuff was simply the item itself dropping with rare stats. Now I can understand simply that a few people could sell parts/give parts to someone to make up a item but I'm still weary about this feature being a good idea, was it a mir3 thing? I never played it.

Another thing that slightly depresses me is lack of mob taming for a wiz, what was the reason not to add it? or is it simply not part of the code yet?

How come you didn't put the indoor maps in bichon/other towns? I assume it's not a priority and may come later.

Can people cheat? I did see your rules but it mentioned nothing about cheating, I wonder if that's because you feel you have good anti-cheating on the server end?

Now on to the positive thoughts .

I like the exp from flea cave floor 2, I like the elemental aspect of the game especially being able to see the mob's resistance , nice touch. Overall the performance of the game client and gameplay itself feels great.

I really like the observer feature it's brilliant, couldn't believe it when I saw it - imagine that in euro mir days? would of been fantastic . I commend you for this work it's certainly got brilliance written all over it . I can imagine the higher levels would have to disable their cheats, however I think observer mode should be always-on , not optional .

I would like to see this client/server at a later point as a clone of an official mir2 game some day, any plans on that?

Thanks.

Jamie has mentioned before he wont release the source. Maybe one day when the server dies he might but there is no need for him to do so currently while his server has still got lots of active players and he is currently improving and updating it.

This is for mir3 not mir2. While both are "mir" they are different games and play styles. There was no inside of houses in mir3. Taming was pointless on mir3 as the spells negate any need to tame, plus after a while you dont need or cant to tame any pets that will be useful. While the games look similiar the mir3 images/tiles etc are in a different format so it wont ever look like mir2.

The drop system is a Jamie customization not a mir3 thing, ie everything is your own drop, the guaranteed drop system and parts system are all Jamies ideas not mir3 standards.
Jamie has reworked other features that take this away from a traditional mir3 server.

Observer is togglable to prevent grief, ie following someone around all day to constantly PK them. And for earlier days when people where figuring out mechanics etc on bosses you didn't want other guilds/groups seeing how to kill it. The GM's can always observe anyone regardless if its toggled on or off anyway so they can always check if people are cheating etc.

He previously had a mir2 server called Marble, it has since been replaced with this and again that source has never been released.

Thank you lionsm!ght for putting a few things straight . I guess the server files now would be premature to expect but yeah If the unfortunate was to happen and files end up being released I would love to see a mir2 original clone without features that could unbalance or be conceived as tailoring to one class or another ( not that mir2 was perfect by all means it wasn’t ) .

One thing I found a huge disappointment was the moment I died in this game and subisuqently a lot more times since then I didn’t drop items which for me was a particular feature I’ve come to love in full pvp loot games (dark fall . Mortal online ) and original mir2 ( partial drop chance ) and while I’m aware potion of greed adds drop I would appreciate if thoughts could be hmmm around the idea of epic items all come with item drop enabled or at a particular level all players drop items say lvl 30 onward .

Iirc official mir3 didnt have drop chance. Greed pots were added around time I started to give a bit more risk/reward. I've personally only dropped 1 item to pk but loads of times to mobs/bosses due to ping. I never dropped a single item in pk on euro/p69/arcadia/chronicles. Pots/rts were much easier to use in pvp on mir2 tho. Trouble with here is all pots/scrolls share same CD so if you just used a pot and need to tt a half seconds later your ****ed.
